[ Video opens on Roslyn at her desk in the police office, well dressed as she holds up her badge in front of her for a little bit before placing it back down on the desk. The office is small and cramped and clearly actively in use by the piles of folders, even if they're neatly stacked and arranged. ]

Some time ago, the police force was unfortunate enough to lose Inspector Barnaby, Sergeant Howe, and Sergeant Calhoun back to their homes. Their service was appreciated and will be missed.

In their absence, I am currently assuming the reigns as Detective Chief Inspector of the Transport Affairs Unit. I wanted to reassure the population that the police will continue to operate with integrity and dedication. Should you ever require our services, we can be found at [ address & ooc link ].

I won't keep you, but I do have one question.

Why don't you like police forces?

They're jutht bad ideath.

Becauthe I've never theen one that wath ever uthed in a way that wathn't made to benefit a specific group of people.

Then you've been dealing with police behaving completely outside the bounds of the law, which is not what they're intended to do.

When a police force is not corrupt, it's purpose is the protection of the general population.

Wrong. The police I know of were following the law. But the laws were made to benefit specific groups of people.

Protection ith a word that can be manipulated. Do you think lowbloods on my planet were segregated and enslaved without a reason? It wath "for protection" of course. For "our" protection, for the protection of the highbloods and the hemospectrum.

Anyone, given power, will be corruptible.

Power is by nature corrupting, but that does not mean that it is inevitable that all forces with power will have fallen to it.

I can't speak for your homeworld. But here? There will be no corrupt cops in my force if I can help it.

Which means there will be oversights in place to prevent anyone having sole control. Which means that the laws of this place are dedicated to the protection of the general population and there are laws in place to protect them from the police if necessary.

... If you can really promise me that you won't let any person or group have sole control...

I don't even let myself have sole control. I'm hardly about to hand it over to someone else.
