[ Video opens on Roslyn at her desk in the police office, well dressed as she holds up her badge in front of her for a little bit before placing it back down on the desk. The office is small and cramped and clearly actively in use by the piles of folders, even if they're neatly stacked and arranged. ]

Some time ago, the police force was unfortunate enough to lose Inspector Barnaby, Sergeant Howe, and Sergeant Calhoun back to their homes. Their service was appreciated and will be missed.

In their absence, I am currently assuming the reigns as Detective Chief Inspector of the Transport Affairs Unit. I wanted to reassure the population that the police will continue to operate with integrity and dedication. Should you ever require our services, we can be found at [ address & ooc link ].

For those of you considering joining the force, we are always welcoming new recruits and the pay is reasonable. Serving as an officer is a way to help mend the fences between us and the natives and earn a living. Thank you for your time.

So, you are as committed to safeguarding the peace here as you were at home.

I suppose I'm not very good at stepping aside from the idea. If it needs doing and someone must do it.

And you'll forgive me for prying, but I notice you think that Blue could be that someone as well.

[ her tone is light, but matter-of-fact. there is some scrutiny in it, but it doesn't necessarily sound negative. ]

I think he could be of great help, if he wanted to.

[ she pauses for a moment. ] I think it may be a help to him, as well. Protecting others is what comes naturally to him.

He does seem to have the drive. And when it is present it's difficult to simply stand by.

I think that difficulty has taken hold already. He retired his mantle as Soldier, one he has carried far longer than I've lived. I fear the void it has left has made him troubled.

He's too good a man for me to see him feeling inadequate.

He's spoken about that before. It sounds like it was a very important job.

If he desires to work with us, I would be happy to give him something to do.

I'll speak with him about it. Perhaps my recommendation will make the idea more amenable to him.

Whatever you think would be best. I only want him doing the job if it is what he himself truly wants.

I understand. I think determining that will be important to how he relates to this world.

The faster he learns how that will be, the better. There is a possibility he will be here for a very long time.

And he's been away for a long time already. I want hope that his time here can be happier, more fulfilled. I get the impression that it hasn't before.

I think he achieves some of that simply by your presence.

[ on the other side of the line, she gets a wistful smile. ]

I can only hope so. He's done so much for me, I do my best to give him the same.

I think that's the essence of a partnership, isn't it? He's certainly happy you're here.

As I am that he is, but...it isn't enough. He protects, I guide. This is what we are meant to be to one another.

I suppose I've taken too long adjusting to this situation to offer any substantial guidance.

It's a fairly new situation to adjust to. I don't think anyone would expect you to simply drop in and understand it immediately.

My job is to help others understand. I'm not used to being ignorant as well.

It's uncomfortably outside my experience.
