[This is his first time addressing people in this fashion. While he’s used to presenting in front of groups at small info swaps in Sybak, this is a whole new experience. While there’s a smile on his face, he’s a little nervous. ]
This isn’t what I had in mind when I first set out to do field research. It’s quite interesting, in any case.
[A pause. He’s had time to settle in, albeit a short amount of time, and has a general idea of what’s been going on. Hearing about the recent bombs was especially unsettling, which is why he’s outside the living quarters just looking at his surroundings. He’s eager to help out in this new place, even if he's not sure where to start. The people here had been through a lot already. It was apparent even from a casual glance at the last posts.]
For the time being, I’d like to offer my services to help reconstruction efforts in any way I can. I’ve only just arrived, but I hope I can be of some use.
[His expertise is research over anything else so while he looks useless, he can at least put a band-aid on someone. Or give them a hug. Or hold a nail while someone whacks it with a hammer. Before he ends the chat, he appears to remember something and quickly asks: ]
Are the words Tethe’Alla or Sylvarant familiar to anyone here? If it’s not any trouble, I’d like to talk to you.

[video] no please continue
[Ignore him attacking the obvious, Aster, he's taking notes inside. Especially regarding the creation of artificial spirits, because, well, he knows that tone of complicated. It's probably running around in the rain somewhere picking up groceries.]
The fonon sentiences of Auldrant are similar in theory, but entities with that kind of power don't seem to exist in this world. If they were to arrive here, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to harness that kind of power with the right equipment - [After all, fontech wasn't hard in theory, and they did have Jade, specialty or not.] - but finding a power source on that level would be difficult.
[Aster's pleased at the way this conversation turned and it shows on his face. He's had bouts of excitement every so often after his arrival, but then it would change to guilt over leaving his world in such a precarious situation. Right now though, he can just concentrate on this. It's nice.
When Asch starts talking about his own world, he listens in and while his gaze drifts down, it's pretty apparent he's taking actual paper notes.]
If they have the power to transport people across time and between worlds, it's likely they have a similar power source. Whether it's mana or something entirely new. Can you imagine what it must look like? Or perhaps it has no tangible form at all.
[Either way, he's curious about dem fonons.]
If you don't mind, I'd like to hear more about the fonon sentiences.
AUGH MY INTERNET GAVE OUT AS I WAS POSTING THIS
[Because, you know, no one thought to ask the isofons. No, they had to wait until Tear went and got herself possessed.]
For the most part, they exist in the fon belt above the planet, where fonons layer throughout the upper atmosphere. Lorelei is an exception again, having been contained in the core of the planet for the past several thousand years.

[That does sound similar. Not exactly, but closer than he expected given the variety of different worlds here. The word 'contained' catches his attention most of all.]
Is there a reason Lorelei is separated from the rest?
no subject
Setting Lorelei loose of that containment was a side effect of halting the Planet Storm in order to halt the vibrations of the core that was liquifying the crust and causing the land to sink.
[Is that enough infodump for you, Aster?]

It sounds like Auldrant was under an enormous burden. The balance between energy and technology...it's extremely difficult to keep the two in check. We've had a similar issue on our world.
[ With the whole 'let's make magitechnology and have a war thing'. Not entirely the same, but Aster can see a few similarities there.
He loves this Asch never change you redheaded dumper of information.]
Were you able to find an alternative energy source to replace the Planet Storm?
[More curious about this perhaps since it could help them solve that whole crazy mana issue back on his world.]

Not as of my death.
[...Yeah, whoops.
Sadly we don't have any canon information about it, really...]no subject
haha. He feels bad for Asch and his tone is genuinely sympathetic.]...I'm sorry to hear that.
WELP LET'S THREADJACK AGAIN now with copious headcanon

[HAND TO CHIN THINK FACE.]
The most difficult part may be predicting future growth of populated areas along with the need for more power. Keeping the balance between the two will be critical.
Is there a reason they had to move away from that ancient technology and develop the Planet Storm to begin with?
[Their ancient technology is the do not use ever again range of things to consider. Haha, Magitechnology.]

[Truly, Aster feels pain for everyone involved in that field, but they managed to figure out some of the technology. That's good progress in itself. Ancient technology man.]
It's incredible how your technology is still able to function, even after such an extended period of time and decay.
[He is assuming it was a VERY long time and he looks very impressed. Take him to Auldrant he wants to visit now please.]
Is the energy output sufficient for your era? Or will it require more work to bring it up to par?
[SO CURIOUS]

Luke,Jade is willing to entertain these questions. ]At present, we're still enjoying the a grace period of increased levels of fonons from the Planet Storm. Dawn Age technology appears to be more efficient than contemporary fontech.

[He's rooting for you guys in Auldrant!]
