[This is his first time addressing people in this fashion. While he’s used to presenting in front of groups at small info swaps in Sybak, this is a whole new experience. While there’s a smile on his face, he’s a little nervous. ]

This isn’t what I had in mind when I first set out to do field research. It’s quite interesting, in any case.

[A pause. He’s had time to settle in, albeit a short amount of time, and has a general idea of what’s been going on. Hearing about the recent bombs was especially unsettling, which is why he’s outside the living quarters just looking at his surroundings. He’s eager to help out in this new place, even if he's not sure where to start. The people here had been through a lot already. It was apparent even from a casual glance at the last posts.]

For the time being, I’d like to offer my services to help reconstruction efforts in any way I can. I’ve only just arrived, but I hope I can be of some use.

[His expertise is research over anything else so while he looks useless, he can at least put a band-aid on someone. Or give them a hug. Or hold a nail while someone whacks it with a hammer. Before he ends the chat, he appears to remember something and quickly asks: ]

...No, I apologize. I've never been involved with anything of this magnitude before. My background ends with my research.

Well, if you have the ability to learn, the city would benefit from the help.

[He's being nice by Jade standards. Even Jade knows you can't expect people to know much beyond their field.]

[Besides, it's not everyday he gets the opportunity to learn such things. Even basic first aid he left up to Richter. All he can do is tie a bandage.

Either way, he's taken a glance at the important posts prior to making this one. This place is as chaotic as you would expect.]

It seems there is no shortage of events here to prepare for. How long have you been here?

Oh, only a handful of Earth's months, as of yet. Do you feel you would have been able to assist for any of the past events you noted?

[That's right. The time format was different here too. It's a lot to get used to, but exciting all the same. Aster reflects on that. Could he? Probably not. Maybe if summon spirits were involved he could have managed, but that was a minimal possibility at best.

Now he's wishing he had taken some first aid training at Sybak instead of relying on Richter's magic 99% of the time.]

No, I don't think I would have.

[On the grounds that Aster is at least showing a willingness to learn, but also Jade hates teaching people, he will offer useful information on this.]

The library here is considerable, and there are large enough groups of scientists that you should be able to find the help needed to turn your research to matters more suited to the situation.

Thank you for that information. I'm hoping to visit it after a few things are taken care of.

[Aster's voice seems to lighten with this new knowledge. Jade seems well informed on these matters too.]

Have you had experience with the scientists here?

I've done some work with them before. The scientists are reasonably capable and intelligent.

[It's not an insult, really. It's just Jade's honest assessment: reasonable levels of intelligence and capability for scientists.]

Are you a scientist as well?

[Aster had his suspicions about Jade already, just from the way he spoke and acted. It sorta reminded him of the people in Sybak.]
