[laughs; jokingly] That was only five or six times.

[The girl probably can't see her grin, so she laughs back.] Well, you barely got acquainted then.

Haha! Don't worry, I'm sure we will be bosom friends by the time I can see again.

You can't see without them, either? [Her tone has seamlessly shifted into concern.] What happened? [It it's not a permanent thing, clearly something caused it.]

Oh - I was too close when one of the bombs went off a couple weeks ago. The folks at the hospital can still fix it, but I figured as long as I'm blind anyway, why not try it out for a little while and see what happens?

It's starting to get better on its own, anyway, so it won't be too much longer one way or another.

How's it gone so far?

Pretty well, actually! It doesn't affect my ability to do most things, and my friend Sollux has been helping me with the rest. Like finding doors, stuff like that. And it's pretty neat to get more in touch with my other senses. Although I haven't quiiite figured out how to smell colors yet, haha.

That would come in handy. [She's never heard of synaesthesia working that way, but aliens.]

Yeah, I don't think it will happen this time around, though. Anyway, I'm not sure there is anybody here who could teach me how to do it.
