A few things.

First... I would like to have some sparring partners and some teachers. While I'm good with my own weapons, it's pretty clear that they're not advanced enough to take on the UE's technology. If someone would be able to show me how to use something more effective, maybe some sort of gun, I'd be grateful and would do something in return. I think other people have already offered, but I'm also open to instructing in swordsmanship and related combat things.

Second, I wanted to say thank you to those of you who have been concerned or helped me out lately, both in arriving here and in... well, recent events. It means a lot.

Third. [She hesitates, wondering how to phrase this.] Say that someone from your world, who's... from later in time, tells you something bad happens in your future. You don't trust the person who says it, but they don't exactly have a good reason to lie about it at this point. What...

[Where is she even going with this? Sango stops abruptly and her frown is nearly palpable on the feed.]

Well... I guess that's familiar enough. Evil spirits can't be taken out with violence alone... and sometimes different types of demons are more easily taken care of with poison than with blades.

Yeah, and some have to be burned, some can only be harmed by silver - if you figure out what kills it that's half the battle won right there.

[Sango, figuring that if she's going to be talking to Sam regularly that she needs to bite the (possible) bullet already, switches the feed to video. She herself isn't looking the greatest, being bruised and squinting a little too hard at the screen, but the camera is focused on the currently kitten-sized Kirara in her lap. The two-tailed, red-eyed, fairly obviously demonic Kirara in her lap.]

Is that a...native animal to your world?

[Sango reverts as well, feeling the urge to sigh.]

Well... if you'd call demons native. [Yes, fear her, the terrible Demon Sympathizer.] I told you that where I'm from, they can be good too, right? This is Kirara and she was with my family for generations. She's a big help on exterminations.

[Before Dean told him what he told him, he'd be excited to hear that.

How does she...help?

This isn't her 'helpful' form. But when we do have to fight, she can transform to be able to carry several people... she flies, and she's pretty good at tearing demons apart.

[Which might not be the most comforting thing??]

[So it's big, it flies, it's strong, and it can tear a demon apart.

So what will it do to a human if it sets its mind to it?]

Why does she work with your family? Is she bound under some sort of spell?

Ah, if anything it's sort of tied to something that started a long time ago in my village, where she was a companion to a very powerful priestess who also fought with demons. But she was always with us by choice.

[Of course she could tear a human to pieces. But why would she, unless there's a good reason?]

Do you know why she chooses to do that, to fight against her own kind?

[because she's a demon.]

Demons kill each other all the time. It's rare to find solidarity unless it's within a particular family group or subspecies. Or if they're working for something or towards a similar goal, but even under those circumstances, killing within the ranks is common.

[True beings of chaos - that makes sense. But why would they work with humans?]

So why...did she join ranks with humans?

Well, I'm not sure. It's not really like I can ask her, and it was so long ago that no one really can know why she chose to at first. But now I think it's because she's become fond of us.

And you trust that...that she won't change her mind, or anything?

[It's a demon and the experience he's been told about is screaming at him not to believe.]

What reason would she have to do that?

[Come on Sam, don't diss the loyalty of her cat, this thing is the only reason she's alive right now.]

If you can't tell her reasons to be loyal, you can't really know, can you?

[When Sango responds again it's with more than a little frustration and indignation.]

That's a totally different thing. You asked why she joined ranks with humans in the first place, not why she's here now. She's loyal because she's my family. Because she's been with me since the day I was born, a caretaker before she was a friend, and she knows me better than anyone. Because she had a home in the village once, too, because she lost all the same people, because she has the same stakes in every battle as I do.

Just because I don't know why she chose my family in the first place, just because she can't reassure you with words, just because she's a demon, doesn't mean there aren't reasons to trust her. With my life. Which she has saved, many times. And will continue to, I'm sure.

[Sango draws to an abrupt pause, realizing she may have let slip more than she meant to. And realizing, more truly now than most other times, what InuYasha has faced his whole life.

She speaks again, with her aggravation more under control.]

Maybe someday she'll be able to prove it to you.
