[Coby was facing away from the communicator. His eyes were tightly shut and reddened at the lids and just underneath them. Despite this, he was looking very much pleased with himself.]

For those who need assistance in their efforts to rebuild their losses, I'm absolutely available. As I don't get out terribly much and to those of you who may be fairly new to this island may call me Coby. I'm a captain of the marines.

[Raising one hand promptly, Coby saluted the empty space that definitely didn't house the camera of his comm.]

[Pausing, Coby looked a little confused.]

Do you mean my eyes? I'm taking medicine for them.

I suppose, sure. You just look a little lost, that's all. [Her tone is good-natured, albeit concerned.]

I wouldn't worry about it. I have my ways of getting around without any problems.

My eyes aren't the only sense I use, after all! [He looked proud, despite the fact that he spent ten minutes talking to a wall.]

If you say so! Any word on when they're getting fixed?

Oh, I won't be having a procedure done. I'm just taking a bit of medicine for it.

Oh, pardon. I mean, how long until the medicine kicks in?

That, I'm not sure of. At best, it's dulled the pain and when I open my eyes it isn't searing pain, so--

It may be a few days to a week until I can see again.

I see. So what exactly happened?

A mixture of a chemical compound exploded from one of the bombs I was attempting to intercept and my eyes were exposed. Thankfully, I didn't breathe anything in.

Coupled with the flash-bombs, I was unable to tell which bombs were which.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. At least you aren't sick on top of it, right?

I suppose there's that. I suppose I may make an effort to purchase a gas mask the next time I get a pay check, just in case this happens a second time.

That's not a bad investment. I'm surprised they don't issue those already. [She shrugs.] They already have hazmats on reserve.

Oh, they had a lot of gas masks in the medical stations around the city and especially in the hospital, but I don't think I should be using anything that patients should have first access to.

At least, I hope they were primarily for the patients. Given that the virus itself could block airways and the chemical bombs severely amplified that... Patients should certainly take first priority.

We might just be better off with gas masks in every household at this point.

I somehow doubt that's a personality.

Resources may be tapped entirely, miss. I'm already acquainted with bowing to the need of those worst off, so I imagine I can find ways to adapt.
