[ It takes a bit of shaking the thing about. Despite the tutorial, this is so different to Edmund that he can't seem to fully grasp it at once. He eventually seems to get that it's recording, though, and the shaking stops. ]
Oh - it's on. Good. I was starting to think I'd broken it.
Um, hello. While a great deal of things have certainly been explained to me, and I'm doing my best to try and catch up on it all, I did have a question I was hoping people might be able to answer for me.
Have you come across anyone with the last name "Pevensie"? I'm looking for my brother and sisters. Or even just one of them, maybe. Lucy? Are you here?
[ He's not used to world jumping without her and he's hopeful she'll get the message. He presses his lips together a little more roughly, trying not to convey too many of his nerves and keep up a mostly regal appearance. ]
Well, thank you in advance, regardless.

[ He wonders, maybe, if Finchley is still in this place. He has a hard time believing that this is still his England, but, well... Hmph. ]
No one else seems to have either. I guess I should be grateful I was the only one snatched up.
video;
[ A few years ago, by her count. She'd read about the expansion, remembered seeing it herself much later. But back to the siblings: ]
You seem quite confident that they're better off elsewhere.
video;
[ He shrugs, smiling a little. ] I know they can handle themselves where ever they are. And last I knew, Peter and Susan were at least in Finchley. Lu though...
She was with me last, so I suppose she either ended up back in England, or... somewhere else. [ He hopes for the former. ]
video;
[ She doesn't have siblings - not anymore, at least - but the more he talks about his, the more she's feeling some actual sympathy creeping in. She offers a light smile to match his. ]
That's good. I assume your being here is part of this machine's malfunction - I can't imagine they'd recruit children for their war intentionally. As they say, it's no place for a child. Though depending on when you're from, home may not be fairing much better.
video;
[ He can't help but have a twitch of a smile at those sympathies. As much as he hates being called a child, he's gotten used to it in the past two or three years he's been back from Narnia. ]
I've fought in wars before - led them, even. Perhaps it wasn't really a mistake at all.
video;
Have you? Not the World War, surely.
[ She knows they recruited young, but that seems a bit extreme. ]
video;
No. They wouldn't let me join. Said I was too young.
I was in a different world for a while and I fought in a few wars there.
video;
And this is common where you come from? Traveling to different worlds.
[ Maybe not so much her England, then. ]
You don't mean faerie, do you?
video;
Can't say that I do.
video;
How did your family come by it, then?
video;
By accident, honestly. We were staying with a family friend while the war was going on and my little sister Lucy hid in a wardrobe while we were playing a game. She fell through the back of it into Narnia.
video;
And you followed. If it wasn't even your world, why would you fight in their wars? [ Or lead them, for that matter. ] Were you enlisted like you've been here?
video;
I was manipulated into helping the wrong side of the war. My family was forced to stay in Narnia to save me. When they finally did, we were so invested in the problems of the war, helping them fight only seemed right.
video;
It's not always easy to see the right side of a war. Not all of them have one, but everyone always assumes they're on it. Do you trust the Initiative?
video;
[ He's quiet for a second, still not sure how to answer that one. ] I don't know. I want to believe they're good, I try to think the best of everyone, but... I believe it better to always be cautious.
video;
[ She's always found a good mix of trust and wariness makes for the best sort of leader, and that's the first thing he's said that makes her believe his story. ]
If I find reason to believe we're on the wrong side of this one, I'll be sure to let you know.
[ And oh, right, manners. ]
Mathilda Shackley. A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Pevensie.
video;
[ He remembers flying over the Telmarines castle in particular and it makes his stomach twist in knots to this day. ]
You can just call me Edmund. Mr. Pevensie is more my dad than me.
