[ It takes a bit of shaking the thing about. Despite the tutorial, this is so different to Edmund that he can't seem to fully grasp it at once. He eventually seems to get that it's recording, though, and the shaking stops. ]

Oh - it's on. Good. I was starting to think I'd broken it.

Um, hello. While a great deal of things have certainly been explained to me, and I'm doing my best to try and catch up on it all, I did have a question I was hoping people might be able to answer for me.

Have you come across anyone with the last name "Pevensie"? I'm looking for my brother and sisters. Or even just one of them, maybe. Lucy? Are you here?

[ He's not used to world jumping without her and he's hopeful she'll get the message. He presses his lips together a little more roughly, trying not to convey too many of his nerves and keep up a mostly regal appearance. ]

You're not from that world originally?

No, ma'am. Born in London, originally. We didn't find Narnia until the war.

The war?

The Second World War, I guess is what they're officially calling it.

Ah, my history of the land above isn't as knowledgeable as most people.

It's alright. It's uh - it's a mess, is what it is. A good portion of Europe is at war with one another and the city I live in was constantly getting bombed. So our mum did what a lot of parents did and sent us off to live in the country to be safe at the home of a family friend.

I've heard a bit. Many ships were sunk along with explosives over the years. We've been fortunate enough to recover some, but not all. The ocean covers most of the world, after all.

[ A pause. ]

What happened to your mother?

I guess it does, doesn't it? Growing up on an island, you'd think that'd be something I thought about more.

Oh, she's alright. Dad survived the war and she managed to stay safe too. They're actually off in America with my sister Susan, at the moment.

Humans spend much of their lives on land, so it's no surprise. [ She doesn't blame him, especially since he's still young in her eyes. ]

Your father is a soldier? I'm glad to hear they're alright. War often separates families and not many are lucky enough to see each other so soon after.

I rather liked the last adventure I got to have at sea. Even if there were bumps along the way. [ Like GIANT SEA MONSTERS WHY ]

He was. Not before the war, but lots of men signed up for it when it first happened.

How did you go from London to a king of Narnia, Edmund? [ He wasn't born into royalty, from the sounds of it.

Maybe he's long lost royalty. Her own husband is half-Atlantean. ]

Well, um... We all sort of fell into Narnia by accident through the back of a wardrobe that was made out of magical wood that was meant to be a portal between Narnia and other worlds. At the time, it was all covered in a never ending winter, and being ruled by someone called the White Witch who had managed to keep Aslan, the creator and one true king of Narnia at bay with dark magic. [ He feels like he should... skip the being tricked and used part maybe. Yes. Let's not go into that. ]

My siblings and I got pulled into a war against her. There was a prophecy that two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve would show up and that Narnia would only be able to live in peace under their rule. So when we eventually won the war and Aslan was able to defeat the White Witch, he crowned the four of us to rule his Empire, before returning to Aslan's Country. Which is... sort of like the Earth notion of Heaven, I suppose.

[ She listens, taking in little details but ultimately both eyebrows are raised by the end of it. ]

Even in other worlds witches are still as cunning and power hungry. [ Somehow, she's not that surprised by a witch being involved in a struggle over an empire.

A beat. ] Edmund, how old are you?

I'm told there are some who aren't so bad, but -- she was a real nightmare.

[ He pauses at the question, because it's a harder one to answer. ] Ah -- sixteen, technically, I guess.

So young and already having faced war. [ It's admirable and yet she feels some pity because no one should really have to go through that. ]

[ Guess he should probably leave out that he was like 12 for that one. ] A lot of kids dream of the kind of adventures I've had.

[ Lorena was just sixteen and placed herself beside Arthur. Kaldur'ahm is only around the same age and together they took on an entire Xebel army. ]

War isn't the same as an adventure, unfortunately.

No, no matter how much the military back in London sometimes try to make it sound like one to get people to sign up. [ Not that he didn't get pissed when he couldn't join the ranks. Denying a King, HONESTLY, LONDON. ] But I'm glad I did it.

It does say greatly about you and your siblings to lead an army to victory. [ She'll admit she's impressed. Not even elder, high ranking generals have been able to do the same. ] I think I'd like to meet your family if they're here.

Peter's the real hero in it. He's always been good at being a leader. I don't know if we would've been at all successful if it weren't for him.

[ He smiles a little, with a hint of sadness at it. ] It's seeming more and more unlikely they are, but... If they ever do show up, I'll be sure to introduce you.

You stood by an empire that wasn't your home, didn't you? [ She offers a smile. ] That's quite honorable and brave of you as well.

[ And then her expression falters. She understands; she only recently got her husband back -- from the dead. Now she's been torn from him again. ]

I'm sorry. They've said that the technology the Initiative uses isn't precise and transports random people from their worlds here. [ But there are more of Batman's people here. Hrm. ]

[ He nods, rubbing his neck a bit. ] I suppose. Just seems like the right thing to do, especially after... everything that led up to it.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. It's... It's not that I blame them for it or anything, it's just a little weird to do this on my own. Or, well, sort of on my own. I mean, there are all of you lot - everyone seems pretty nice, considering, so it's not so bad, just --

You know what I mean. I hope.

I understand. [ She'd really like to go back home or at least have Arthur here. As far as she knows, she and Feferi are the only sea dwellers, too. ] We may not even be here for long.
