01 | video | slightly backdated to mid-afternoon may 5th!
[Jaime chooses to use the video function for a couple of reasons: the first is that he’s really, really hoping that someone he can trust will be able to recognize his face if not his voice and the second is that he hopes others will use it too. He doesn’t look happy in the slightest, but he also doesn’t look quite as terrified as he probably should be.] Hi. I guess I’m supposed to introduce myself here. I’m Jaime.
Uh, I already got the run-down from that spooky-weapons-lady a little earlier, but I’m guessing I didn’t get everything about this place because all this? Still makes no sense. So if there’s anything I should know... [He trails off, gaze diverted up into the sky. He tears his eyes away from whatever he's looking at to address the network again.] Aaaanyway, I'm starting to get used enough to this place that I know I'm not gonna make it home in time for dinner anytime soon, but I still want to hear how legit all this is from people who don't actually benefit from spoon feeding me this in--
[He's staring up again. There is a definite boom, and Jaime's eyes widen as he ducks his head as if that will somehow protect him from any debris] Did that spaceship just explode--
[Fade to black as Jaime unceremoniously shoves the device into his pocket, though he does announce his apparent survival a little after the hubbub is wrapped up with the voice-only addition of:] Next time I say I'm even starting to think about getting used to this place, someone should probably hit me. Are exploding spaceships just a thing here?

[Not that that was what he was going for right now, but he should probably look into it for the future.]
...but it's not the type of place you welcome people to, I get it. Heh.

Gotham. [ She's used to people not being familiar with the name, so she doesn't expect him to recognize it. ]
voice
I've never visited Gotham either, though, so we're even there. [That's a bit of a fib, but he doesn't count being dragged there on hero business as a proper visit.]

[Then, because surprise is dumb because no matter their capabilities, Batman and Robin are mortal:] ...not that Gotham without Batman would be the weirdest thing I've seen today, but it's still a little hard imagining Gotham without them.
voice
[ A pause. ]
Alternate worlds aren't uncommon here. I've already met someone from some... other Gotham. [ Or something. ]

[If Kate hears the scritching of a pen against paper, it's because Jaime's gotten to the point where he's decided he needs to write all this stuff down. He's just happy that he's consumed enough sci-fi to make some sense of this.]
So if someone's from a Gotham without Batman, we've got the choices of past-Gotham, future-Gotham or alterna-Gotham. Or a combination of the last two. Except for multiple Bat--okay, you know what? Stopping there. Your Batman is a guy in a cape who fights crime, right?
voice
Batman did exist in her world, but she -- well, it was a Robin. I've never seen any girl Robins who didn't look older than twelve. [ Okay, Carrie was... thirteen or something.
But it was weird. ]
And yeah, he does. Well, there's two now, but that's Gotham for you, I suppose; lots of Bats.

I knew he was into charity in addition to all the other kajillionaire - [very scientific term, that] - stuff he's got going on, but that's huge. Guess you'd need someone with as much money as him to tackle that sort of project.
Re: voice
It makes sense. Everyone knows what happened to his family. [ She hasn't connected Bruce = Batman... yet. ]
voice
[And he doesn't want to.]

We could have plenty for all we know. They don't exactly get to bring in their bank accounts and businesses.
