Uh, I already got the run-down from that spooky-weapons-lady a little earlier, but I’m guessing I didn’t get everything about this place because all this? Still makes no sense. So if there’s anything I should know... [He trails off, gaze diverted up into the sky. He tears his eyes away from whatever he's looking at to address the network again.] Aaaanyway, I'm starting to get used enough to this place that I know I'm not gonna make it home in time for dinner anytime soon, but I still want to hear how legit all this is from people who don't actually benefit from spoon feeding me this in--

[He's staring up again. There is a definite boom, and Jaime's eyes widen as he ducks his head as if that will somehow protect him from any debris] Did that spaceship just explode--

[Fade to black as Jaime unceremoniously shoves the device into his pocket, though he does announce his apparent survival a little after the hubbub is wrapped up with the voice-only addition of:] Next time I say I'm even starting to think about getting used to this place, someone should probably hit me. Are exploding spaceships just a thing here?

[She knows that face, and that name. It takes her a moment to actually place it, re-watching the video a few times before it clicks into place.

When Steph's reply comes, she's in civvies, looking freshly showerwed, which is probably the only reason she's not scowling at the screen. (It's not Jaime's fault,, she's just had a shitty two weeks and being in a crashing spaceship was the icing on the fucking cake.)]

We met at a recruiting drive. [Which is - true enough, the Titans had their little thing. She mostly just hung out with Traci, since neither of them were actually planning to join the team.] But it's cool if you don't remember me, I was dressed a bit different.

[God this is why she never talks to heroes outside of Gotham, she is terrible at it. It doesn't occur to her that it might not have happened for Jaime yet, which it really should, but she's not on the top of her game right now.]

The Initiative does. We were all pulled from different points and time and different planets, in some cases.

But it might be a good thing that we don't have the equipment for more space travel. We might if that ship can be fixed, but...it can be a dangerous place.

[He points at the screen.] See, I'm new and impressionable. I could have totally taken you seriously if like, three people hadn't already told me that exploding-emergency-crashing-spaceships don't come around every day.

[Hisoka just kind of. Stares, raising an eyebrow.]

Do you think exploding spaceships are a 'thing' anywhere? No, it isn't exactly a common occurance here.

[He, on the other hand, switches to voice - he's wasting no time getting suited up and hopping in there, but that doesn't mean that he can't communicate with others while he does it.]

No, nobody. There's just a bunch of smoke.

I'll say. My introduction might've been a little lame, but I wasn't really expecting that to spice it up. Looks like everyone's okay, though.

...but uh, if you don't mind me asking, what's with the mask?

It could be. I mean, once you get dragged into some sort of future-dystopia business, I think that exploding spaceships are as game as anything else.

Not that I can say I have a lot of experience with any of this either, but still. Either way, it appears that the housing will need to be repaired, in any case.

Oh. Sorry, I didn't really go through the backlog before turning this thing back... though I was able to catch that it was a spaceship before it up and exploded.

A group headed off on their own mission and brought back that thing.

Sorry, the recruiting drive thing isn't really ringing a bell. If we're talking about the same team, I don't think they really wanted me around in the first place.

[He pauses to pass a hand over his face.] Okay, this is getting kinda ridiculous. I can probably make some sort of a private line, but. It'll probably take a little while. Maybe we could just meet in person if that's secure? I'm not sure how much the Initiative keeps track of us, and they haven't really inspired much confidence in the whole trustworthy-angle from me.

Right, sorry. As I was saying before the whole explosion thing, I was probably told all this already, it just went sort of quickly.

Why would we - sorry, the Initiative want to go into space for anyway? As far as I can remember they seem pretty strictly concerned with Earth.

Guess it's a good thing that I hadn't really gotten settled in in the first place. So if you haven't gotten a lot of experience with this yet... are you new here too?
