[A pause, like maybe he shouldn't even say what he was planning to.]

...it is, I guess. I know other people might not be so lucky. Even though I don't know all of them, at least we're from the same place...and...yeah. [You can almost hear his shoulders sag.] It's just...like a part of my life is gone.

That sounded really melodramatic.

Well, to them... we will always be their children. I guess it's pretty hard for them to maybe let go of that thought.

[ she listens quietly, smiling even though she cannot be seen. ] It's not melodramatic, at least I don't think so. I think it's normal to feel that way when we've all been taken so far away from our homes.
