I don't like to live in the past. It makes me feel old. But when a thought eats at you, sometimes the only thing you can do is take a bite, right?

Anyway, a few weeks ago something the Initiative did put people in their wrong bodies. I don't mean to drudge up bad memories, but— think about it. What are we, really? Hands, feet, fingers, eyes?

We've all got bodies, but souls? [ He shakes his head. ] Not for me to say.

But if the Initiative can keep our fingers and toes and move the rest around, it means there has to be something else, right? And whatever that something else is, the Initiative can mess with it it.

Where's the fun in that anyway? Most people are so mundane.

The sun rises every day— there's nothing more mundane than that. And yet, it's beautiful, and it changes, depending on how the clouds hang or the coldness hanging in the air. And you don't see it if you don't look.

I think it's interesting that we don't always look.

Do you really think you can see the sky when you're cooped up in a mansion?

I've seen the type of life both money and power give, along with the 'boundless blue skies' poverty brings. [Most of the Guild's clients came from wealth, and they had used that greed and lust for power for profit.] That sky is overrated along with all that comes with it.

Money and family are fickle friends, aren't they?

I only implied it if you think you have to have it easy to appreciate what you have. Perspective has as much to do with where you're going as where you've been. And loss makes the heart feel keener. Or it can.

And if I were sheltered I wouldn't be very good at my job. The line about sunsets actually got a lady to run away with me, just so you know.
