[On the screen is a blond woman, to all appearances human and doing a not-quite-perfect job hiding the kind of resigned annoyance only seen in those for whom getting hauled across space and time is just a bothersome day at the office. She's instantly recognizable to people from a wide number of related universes—it's Susan Richards, the Invisible Woman, visible for this conversation and wearing a black-and-white version of the Fantastic Four's classic blue uniform with the distinctive "4" logo on the chest. It's been almost two days and there's no sign of her teammates, so it's time to cast a wider net.]

Hello. My name is Susan Richards. I'm going to swallow my pride and assume that doesn't mean anything to most of you. [The necessity of doing so doesn't seem to bother her, even though the idea of not being known on sight is strange. Sue laughs a little, and lets go of her irritation. The only real problem here is that her family isn't, and that's always been a self-correcting state of affairs.]

If it does, however, do me a favor and check in? Avengers, X-Men, SHIELD—I'm not picky. [Sue's already run into two people from home. Maybe there are more. She'll even take villains, if only so she can keep an eye on them.]

Everyone else, nice to meet you. Lovely weather we're having, isn't it?

I've been a couple of those things. Not— not anymore. [ Current status: dead. ]

[Sue's been an Avenger. Everyone's been an Avenger. Half her team has also been dead.]

Yes, it does. Nice to actually meet you, Sergeant Barnes.

[Namor and Cap both like him, so he's gotta be mostly okay, right?]

Lady Richards. I have heard naught but good things about you. [He nods in acknowledgement.] Balder Odinson.

We have a few people from our universe or universes similar to ours, although people have been pulled from different times.

[She knows Balder by reputation at least, and come on, the man is hard to dislike.]

King Balder. Thor speaks highly of you.

I am glad to hear it, since he says nothing but silly things about my person within my hearing.

I assume none of your fellows have followed you here?

I have a brother, too. I know how that goes. [It's difficult to determine whether Thor or Johnny Storm is more of a pain in the ass to have as a brother.]

It's only me. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this, does there?

[He shakes his head.] Perhaps we should take them to task sometime. [He hasn't done that for centuries ... ]

Hard to say. If it is truly random, 'tis odd that so many here know each other.

I'm pretty sure Scott never took me off the 'active' roster, though these days, Bright Lady only knows that means.

[OOC: I cannot off-hand remember if they have done anything together, though she is free to vaguely know Cable - he's been visible enough through various things, and he did live in NYC for a while]

Perhaps not, but I would not be against knowing as to what meaning your name is intended to have.

If that works on yours, let me know what tactics you used so I can try it on mine. [Absolutely nothing works on Johnny.]

I'm used to running into friends in strange places, but I don't understand why it's just me, or just you, or only a couple of the Inhumans. [Sue assumes she's going to run into people she knows wherever she goes, because that's always what happens.]

The X-Men are like the Avengers--volunteer once, and they'll be calling you forever. [She says this affectionately, though.] Hello, Nathan.

[OOC: I don't think they've done anything together, since Cable's usually chilled over in the X-corner and the Four mostly only cross over with the main lineup. However, Sue adored Jean and stayed friends with Scott despite hating Emma's guts, and the X-Men call Reed for time travel advice a lot, so she'd definitely at least recognize Cable, and they might even have been introduced. Did he go to Jean's funeral?]

( Sometimes, just sometimes, it's fun to play up to the stereotypes-- not that someone who says fair dink unironically is really moving too far away from their own personal norm in order to meet said stereotypes.

Anyway, Say a few things that Ellie doesn't recognise, and you get her attention. Or, well - obviously she is familiar with the concept of an avenger or a shield, but it seems a bit different in this context. )

I'm a member of the Fantastic Four. [Which would explain the giant number on her chest, probably.] We're a high-profile super-team, meaning we fight super-powered criminals and defend Earth and other planets from threats. The X-Men are another team.

[She has recently become aware that universes without flying people in spandex are more than just fiction, so she's trying to be more explicit about things than she ordinarily would.]

Australia is going to start getting a reputation, if Sue ever finds out about all those explosions and giant fires Ellie and her mates are responsible for back home. You know, in the name of... fighting invaders and taking back what's there. And... stuff.

Hmm.

This is new! And exciting! She's learned about vigilantes and superheroes from some people in Exsilium, but-- ) Really? Don't you-- I mean, I thought your lot had to have secret identities, and all that. Protects your family and that whole thing.

( And forgive the somewhat obnoxious seventeen year old her curiosity, but: ) What about regular Earth wars? One country invades another, something like that? Is here, like... an official policy on that?

[Sue would be more familiar with an Australia where stuff blew up every few days than a peaceful one, because what? Do you know how often aliens invade? Though they do usually focus on New York.]

My team has always been public, and secret identities are rarely as secret as people would like to think. [She does sound rueful, since yes, her family's in constant danger.]

Governments usually field their own teams. There were the Invaders in World War II, and now SHIELD and SWORD take care of a lot of planetary security issues. A country certainly could request help from a non-governmental team in a war, but that's a tricky political situation. It's often seen as whatever country that team's based out of throwing its weight around. The UN will sometimes request assistance in peacekeeping or police actions, and that's less controversial. [tl;dr nothing can change in the long term because narratively The Status Quo Is God.]

When they're not trying to disown me, anyway.

[OOC: I'm not actually sure - his stuff in X-Men/Uncanny X-Men is about the only thing of his I haven't read. But I'm happy to say they've been introduced at least once, and the complicated family tree may even have been explained to her]

Gambit's here, though I hesitate to call the X-Men 'my team'. Stark's here too, though he's not the one I know - didn't know the Summers name, and I doubt he's even heard of mutants before here.

[OOC: Let me know if you want to do something with her finding out about AvX - Nate's from just past it]

I knew about Tony. [She makes a bit of a face. They're in the same apartment, and Tony Stark in any universe is not a good roommate.]

[OOC: The Four were completely uninvolved in AvX (must have been in another universe at the time), so it doesn't matter much to me if she finds out. The things that would get her are 1. Xavier's dead and Scott killed him, 2. Jean's not back, 3. Namor was one of the Five/attacked Wakanda, and 4. Ororo and T'challa are divorced and she's dating Logan what the hell 'Ro find a better rebound.]

[Nate's face has the hint of a tiny, wry smile] Different universes, and he's exactly the same.

It's good to know that there's someone else with more than just a theoretical grip on time travel around, though.

Experience is half of it, at least. I'm getting a little tired of seeing people here making wild assumptions with absolutely no clue how the timestream works, or how changing things at one time affects another time. I know I wouldn't be able to go into the math behind it, but I've been through it enough to understand the practical effects.

If we're in a part of the multiverse far enough removed from our own, the temporal physics could be vastly different. Have you noticed anything one way or another?

[Reed might be the brains of the outfit, but Sue's far from stupid.]

Nothing yet, but I've only been here a month. The only mission I've been on so far, whatever tech they're using for timeslides managed to swap everyone's bodies and conciousnesses around in transit. Not exactly encouraging.
