[ this bizarre, ugly situation certainly doesn't have the same quality of his hallucinations, and in none of them has kazuaki ever been so cold right through to the bone. or, well, human, he's definitely never been in a human body in any of them, either... he's tired of trying to figure out if it's an effect of the gas he'd been breathing before he appeared here, or an effect of higure's pheromones, or if it's real. just like his hallucinations, what it is doesn't matter. it's that he gets through it.

so with that in mind, he's managed to make it to his assigned apartment with a small purchase of several blankets and a good coat. he needs a lot more to make it through this kind of weather, but it's good to regroup, after all... now he needs to network, to make acquaintances, to be known as helpful and likeable. it's the only way he's managed to get anything done so far and he won't be changing tactics that have worked.

after the broadcast begins, kazuaki can be heard fiddling with the flexible little tablet thing. he's not quite sure how to tell that it's broadcasting at all.
]

Aa... How confusing, hmm... Well, at least I'm warm while I try to figure it out, ahaa... Oh! Oh, there it-- yes, it must be on now. [ he shifts to get more comfortable now before addressing a bunch of complete strangers. ] Hello, everybirdie, this is Kazuaki Nanakiii. It's very cold here, isn't it...? Well, I hope we can all make the best of it, and everybirdie is welcoming to new people... especially those, mm, who are newly... people, eheh...

[ for a few moments the feed is silent, and it's pretty obvious he's falling asleep. he manages to wake himself in time to ask an important question, though. ]

Ah! Yes, I had forgotten to ask... Does anybirdie know a Yoshio Akagi? He'd call himself Anghel Higure... I believe I could be considered responsible for him, and I'm a little worried...

[with all the excitement of meeting people and all of the newest transports beginning to pour into the city, Nageki has finally begun to settle down again and come to terms with the fact that Kazuaki is clearly gone. that isn't to say he's upset about it; Nageki is quite glad he's gone home instead of being stuck in a place like this any longer, it's really not what he would consider the most desirable set of circumstances for such a dazed and unassuming sort of man - even if it feels a bit strange to be here all alone again, or at least not with anybody he knows from the school.

so of course, the last thing Nageki is expecting to hear on the network is none other than Kazuaki. the first thing that comes to mind is that Nageki's worries in thinking something must have happened to him were correct, but he realizes quickly as he listens with rapt attention that... Kazuaki doesn't sound like he knows where he is. surely that doesn't make any sense? Nageki is confused enough just by this sudden turn of events, but to think that for some reason he's returned without any idea where he is... it's alarming, and Nageki isn't sure what to make of it at all. didn't Nepeta tell him that when this happened to her, she retained all of her memories in Exsilium? and it can't possibly happen this fast, can it?

it seems as though every time Nageki begins to believe he's learned how to handle the surprising turns of events that always seem to sprout up in Exsilium, something comes along to completely throw off his sense of security. it's a rug pulled out from under him, a deceptive staircase with a missing step, and just like anyone would in those circumstances, Nageki doesn't know how to react. how much has he missed back in their own time, if Kazuaki has come back from the future? will Nageki have to explain himself, and where they are, all over again...?

it occurs to him suddenly that Kazuaki mentioned Anghel somewhere in his sleepy mumbling. thinking of it pulls Nageki back down to earth somewhat, or at least enough to be able to think logically and begin to approach this situation with more of a method than blind stumbling.
]

Higure-kun is not here, Mister Nanaki. Do not worry about him.

Where are you now?

[that makes things much easier, Kazuaki says. Nageki knows from his own experience with Anghel that that's certainly true, perhaps enough that it needn't be agreed upon aloud, so Nageki instead focuses on the number given to him. 201, then? well, that should mean Kazuaki has come back after all and didn't simply disappear mysteriously for a week's time. so if that's the case, how much has Nageki missed? and why is it that Kazuaki doesn't recall being here, unlike Nepeta...?

and there's another thing: he called Nageki Fujishiro. that isn't the addressal he's become accustomed to, and it certainly throws him for a bit of a loop. but he can figure out what that means later, can't he?
]

Please, stay where you are for now. I'll be there shortly.

[shortly being somewhat subjective, because it is an awful lot of stairs to go down. but it's nothing Nageki can't handle.]

[thankfully, he's much more accustomed to navigating the complex by now that it really doesn't take him very long to find apartment 201, its innocuous numbers reading plain and simple on the front of the door. he has to take a little moment to quietly catch his breath, and - perhaps somewhat absurdly - recall that this moment is so familiar to him that he almost feels as though he isn't here, but instead watching this bizarre turn of events happen somewhere off to the side of himself. his repeated words from last time don't sound as though they're from his own mouth, either.]

Mister Nanaki, it's me. Will you open the door?

Indeed. Particularly when there's been fowl play.

I'm sure opposable thumbs are quite the novelty, but...

[ Is he actually having this conversation? Over and over again, he gets the distinct feeling that this city is some obscure corner of that broken toybox, the Abyss. ]

Don't you miss flying?

Uhm...

[He considers the implication here; that he is talking to a bird.]

It is pretty cold here. [She pauses, idly fidgeting a bit of dark hair.] You were here before... You don't remember?

Um... [She looks away from the camera and scratches the back of her neck. How much should she say?] Kind of, but not really. Something happened on a mission to a university, and we were... each other for a while.

Maybe it's better that you don't remember.
