[ this bizarre, ugly situation certainly doesn't have the same quality of his hallucinations, and in none of them has kazuaki ever been so cold right through to the bone. or, well, human, he's definitely never been in a human body in any of them, either... he's tired of trying to figure out if it's an effect of the gas he'd been breathing before he appeared here, or an effect of higure's pheromones, or if it's real. just like his hallucinations, what it is doesn't matter. it's that he gets through it.
so with that in mind, he's managed to make it to his assigned apartment with a small purchase of several blankets and a good coat. he needs a lot more to make it through this kind of weather, but it's good to regroup, after all... now he needs to network, to make acquaintances, to be known as helpful and likeable. it's the only way he's managed to get anything done so far and he won't be changing tactics that have worked.
after the broadcast begins, kazuaki can be heard fiddling with the flexible little tablet thing. he's not quite sure how to tell that it's broadcasting at all. ]
Aa... How confusing, hmm... Well, at least I'm warm while I try to figure it out, ahaa... Oh! Oh, there it-- yes, it must be on now. [ he shifts to get more comfortable now before addressing a bunch of complete strangers. ] Hello, everybirdie, this is Kazuaki Nanakiii. It's very cold here, isn't it...? Well, I hope we can all make the best of it, and everybirdie is welcoming to new people... especially those, mm, who are newly... people, eheh...
[ for a few moments the feed is silent, and it's pretty obvious he's falling asleep. he manages to wake himself in time to ask an important question, though. ]
Ah! Yes, I had forgotten to ask... Does anybirdie know a Yoshio Akagi? He'd call himself Anghel Higure... I believe I could be considered responsible for him, and I'm a little worried...

so of course, the last thing Nageki is expecting to hear on the network is none other than Kazuaki. the first thing that comes to mind is that Nageki's worries in thinking something must have happened to him were correct, but he realizes quickly as he listens with rapt attention that... Kazuaki doesn't sound like he knows where he is. surely that doesn't make any sense? Nageki is confused enough just by this sudden turn of events, but to think that for some reason he's returned without any idea where he is... it's alarming, and Nageki isn't sure what to make of it at all. didn't Nepeta tell him that when this happened to her, she retained all of her memories in Exsilium? and it can't possibly happen this fast, can it?
it seems as though every time Nageki begins to believe he's learned how to handle the surprising turns of events that always seem to sprout up in Exsilium, something comes along to completely throw off his sense of security. it's a rug pulled out from under him, a deceptive staircase with a missing step, and just like anyone would in those circumstances, Nageki doesn't know how to react. how much has he missed back in their own time, if Kazuaki has come back from the future? will Nageki have to explain himself, and where they are, all over again...?
it occurs to him suddenly that Kazuaki mentioned Anghel somewhere in his sleepy mumbling. thinking of it pulls Nageki back down to earth somewhat, or at least enough to be able to think logically and begin to approach this situation with more of a method than blind stumbling.]
Higure-kun is not here, Mister Nanaki. Do not worry about him.
Where are you now?
// audio
nageki. nageki fujishiro is texting him. ...is this a hallucination? nageki never calls him nanaki when he hallucinates him, though... maybe the shock of the change in circumstances has changed that, as well. nageki is telling him not to worry. nageki is asking where he is, nageki is--
nageki is a transport. they want him to fight, they want nageki to fight in a war. oh no, oh no. kazuaki can't allow that. but is he really here, or is kazuaki making it up? he did almost fall asleep just now, even though he knows full well if he thinks he's dreaming he must not be.
he can't freak out forever. nageki is waiting for an answer. ]
Aa, thank you, Fujishiro-kun... I'm grateful he isn't here. That makes things much easier...
[ smooth and sleepy-sounding as ever. even if nageki is a hallucination, he'll play along. ]
I'm in my apartment, ah... 201! Yes. Why do you ask?

and there's another thing: he called Nageki Fujishiro. that isn't the addressal he's become accustomed to, and it certainly throws him for a bit of a loop. but he can figure out what that means later, can't he?]
Please, stay where you are for now. I'll be there shortly.
[shortly being somewhat subjective, because it is an awful lot of stairs to go down. but it's nothing Nageki can't handle.]

[ this makes him so uneasy. nageki's so short with him, which he never is in any hallucinations... he's always open and talkative. like he used to be. why does he know him as "nanaki"--? why is he here, if he's really here? kazuaki is a bad enough choice for a war, much less nageki...
now that he thinks about it, though, many of the new "transports" seem to be terrible choices. but nageki is the worst. nageki is the worst choice because he's already had such a difficult, awful time. nageki can't even study, making him fight isn't okay at all.
it's hard to breathe, but nageki said "shortly," so he has to be under control. where is he coming from? somewhere else in this massive building, possibly... or somewhere else. there's a library, isn't there? if he's there, kazuaki could have met him... he should have asked where nageki is before answering. now all he can do is aimlessly go to the front door to wait. he can't fall asleep, and right now he thinks he'll be okay. he's not wide awake, but he's not dozing off, either. ]

Mister Nanaki, it's me. Will you open the door?
no subject
as soon as he hears nageki on the other side, he has his hand on the door and ready to open it. it takes all the discipline in the world to not open it immediately, but after a moment he does, beaming at nageki with the blandness he gives everyone while he takes in how different this is.
he remembers nageki the way he was as a dove: small, frail, sickly and patterned so beautifully. he's still small and frail and sickly-looking, which makes him so upset; why can't he be healthy for once in his life, especially here? and it's so much later, isn't it? why can't even the modern medicine here make him better? he's beautiful even so, bright green hair falling so gracefully onto his shoulders, bright orange eyes boring into kazuaki like drills and he's sure for a moment, a split second, that he'll recognize him for who he really is.
there's no reason for him to, though. he's never seen what he would look like as a human without being kazuaki. he wonders if he's ugly like this, as ugly outside as he is on the inside-- but nageki, oh, nageki's as sweet and innocent to look at. now that he's seen him like this, he can't believe he's never imagined nageki human before. ]
Hello, Fujishiro-kun... I don't think I have any tea to offer, sorry...! You can take a seat, though... Ah, it may not be so private in here... Why did you want to see me?

A little bird told me - that you used to be a little bird, is that right?

Mm, I did. I was a button quail... It's certainly more convenient this way, haha...

[ Is he actually having this conversation? Over and over again, he gets the distinct feeling that this city is some obscure corner of that broken toybox, the Abyss. ]
Don't you miss flying?
latest ever okok my apologies
[ except when startled, then they fly straight up and usually hurt themselves. that's a weakness kazuaki would rather not divulge so early, though. ]

It is, it is... I don't remember a thing! It's all quite overwhelming, haa... Did we know each other?
Re: // audio
Maybe it's better that you don't remember.
