I still don't get what the point of birthdays are. They're just another year gone by. They're just like any other day.

[M'gann's in the living room, curled up on the couch.]

Some of us think they're worth celebrating.

What's there to celebrate?

[ Conner frowns over at her. Technically seven years old now but really twenty-three to those who don't know him and looking forever sixteen, he's the opposite to anyone else when it comes to being excited to celebrate a birthday.

And how many times have they had this conversation before? ]

[She says this so matter of factly. They may have had the conversation before, but her opinion will never change, not where he's concerned.]

You said that the last time too.

[mgann]

Meaning that fact hasn't changed. It never will, either.

[She scoots to the side slightly before patting the spot next to her.]

It's still a little weird.

[ He goes to sit in the spot she freed up, an arm going up to drape along the back of the couch. ]

Why's that?

[She looks over at him curiously.]

[minded]

[ Conner looks away, eyes lowering to his lap. Anytime he thinks about celebrating, he thinks of Artemis. ]

It's not right, not this time.

[mgann]

[M'gann leans over, her head resting on his shoulder.]

She wouldn't want us to think that way.

It's hard not to.

[ His arm comes down to wrap around her shoulder, pulling her in to tuck against his side. ]

I know.

[Of course she makes no protest when he does this.]

We should still try to do something, though.

There's not much to do around here.

[ Conner looks over her head to the window across the main sitting room. ]

We have exhausted a lot of things. Hm.

[After a moment's pause, she makes a suggestion, rather offhandedly.]

Have you checked the fridge recently?

[ He then glances down at her before glancing over at the kitchen. ]

Not recently, no. Why, are we in need of a food run?

[Conner simply receives a look. She's expecting you to do it, broski.]
