I don't really like doing that announcement thing, but since I'm her roommate... Snow White's gone home! Which is good, that means she's finally back with James, who's her total love at first sight wonderful husband and she has a daughter that maybe she'll get to see now so I'm happy for her. Right, and Al left too, but that was last month. Uh... a few others, but I don't really know the full list.

It makes me curious about something else, though. What do you guys do to show you remember and care about people who you'll probably never see again in this lifetime?

Hey, that's -- better than the whole of the war back home. Earth's been involved the last ten, and the last three actively, but the war is like... forty years in the making?

What's going on for you?

Forty years? Sounds like- wait. You're from Earth? Like home to the Thirteenth Tribe, Earth?

[She'll answer the question about her war in a minute, but there are some scary similarities here that are freaking Kara out.]

What Thirteenth Tribe? Sure, I'm from Earth. We're on Earth, most of the people here are!

[Sigh. This is complicated.]

The Thirteenth Tribe of Kobol. Humanity left Kobol and founded the Twelve Colonies, but the Thirteenth Tribe departed for a place called Earth. We're looking for it. But nobody here seems to know anything about Kobol or anything.

But this better not be it because this isn't much better than what we're trying to get away from. I didn't go back to Caprica to find a way to Earth to have it just be another nuked warzone.

Wow, that's totally crazy! Earth got lost at some point in your past... geez! Anyway, I don't think this is your Earth, and most of them aren't horribly scarred by war like this. There might be other things, but not so much the wastelands we have here.

What were they going to do, when they found Earth? Where and what is Caprica?

Settle down, make a new home. At least that was the plan.

[No telling if it is, since it seems like the Cylons are hellbent on finding Earth now too.]

Caprica is one of the Twelve Colonies. Seat of the government, all that political crap. Or it was until the Cylons nuked them all.

How big are the colonies? It's amazing to think peopl got out to space in such a big way! Though these Cylons sound like bad news. Who're they? Where'd they come from?

Where'd they come from? We made them. Well, not me. Humans made them, they rebelled. Signed an armistice and left. Came back forty years later and nuked all the colonies. Twelve planets of people, exterminated. Just like that. Killed by their own creations.

That's absolutely horrible.

( She sounds quiet, thinking about that as her gaze drops down and she frowns. Those numbers... those are such impossible numbers to think about. )
