[ Kuroh’s been here for a couple months now. He’s kept careful tabs on the network and made a few new friends, learned a few new things. Chief among them: People often ask their fellow Transports a really personal or philosophical question over the tablets for no other reason than to pass the time.

So. To demonstrate his totally admirable social skills--and also due to a recent pang of homesickness--he’s going to prove that he can fit in here. ]

[ Well everyone already knows that since this isn’t anonymous, but for the sake of politeness. ] I wonder, how many of you here also had teachers back home who were very important to you? I mean the sort who were just as much your family as your instructors. [ Oh no, he’s starting to look nostalgic. ] Those who taught you everything you know and loved you unconditionally.

For me, that was Ichigen Miwa. [ And with that, his normally quiet voice becomes a lot more emotional and excited. And...he reaches into his jacket pocket. Suddenly in his hand is a peculiar voice recorder. ] The late Colorless King, the wisest and most fair master anyone could ask for, whose inspired words of wisdom guide me to this very day! [ With a small click, Kuroh presses a button, and... ]

[ Exsilium, you’ve been treated to the soothing, poetic voice of a dead man. Sorry, was Kuroh expressing interest in other people’s teachers earlier? No more. [ Oops, and then he bumps the tablet with his free hand, and the feed is cut off. And thank god because he was showing no signs of stopping. ]

What about you? [ I mean he doubts highly that anyone was as fortunate as him to have someone like Ichigen but it's polite ??? ]

Oh yes, I had a wonderful teacher growing up. His is Doctor Tot, and he taught me almost everything I know!

He's a doctor? [ He does sound a little surprised. ] So you've studied medicine?

[lifemelody]

His specialty is history, actually. But I do know how to use white- er, healing magic!

[nikubaka]

History and healing. A well-rounded education.

[ Yes, he...apparently approves. ]

Did this Doctor Tot teach you that, as well?

[lifemelody]

There was drama, grammar, politics and mathmatics as well.

[Oh Kuroh]

Partly. Some of it came from Gen- [whoa whoops] Beatrix. She was a white mage as well.

I see. Was this at your school? [ Not that he had a traditional education, but that sounds like a pretty typical high school regimen to him.

Except for the magic part, maybe, but he's no stranger to that either. ]

Tutors, actually. I didn't go to a school.

[nikubaka]

[ He gives a single nod. Gotcha. ]

Is this healing magic common, where you are from?

[lifemelody]

It's not too uncommon. Not everyone can do it, but there's quite a number of us as I'm told.

[nikubaka]

I see. Does someone give you these abilities, or do they come naturally?

[ Don't mind the interrogation he's just curious ;; ]

[lifemelody]

I...don't know. Mine came naturally, but I don't know if someone can get them...

[nikubaka]

I ask because such powers are not born into where I come from. Except in a few special cases.

It's interesting to hear how it works elsewhere.

Really? So all special abilities are things that people can learn on their own?

That's fascinating!

[nikubaka]

In a sense. Kings are chosen and given different colored Auras, and they can choose to share a lesser version of their powers with others.

There are some who end up with such powers anyway, but they're not very well understood.

[lifemelody]

Kings are...chosen? [THAT MAKES NO SENSE] But isn't a king decided by birthright?

[nikubaka]

Well. When I say "King" I don't mean a ruler of a country, necessarily. [ They basically run the country anyway but. ] They're people chosen and bestowed with various powers, which they can decide to share with others. This forms a clan.

[lifemelody]

Then they're clan leaders with certain powers? [SHE'S TRYING REALLY HARD TO WRAP HER BRAIN AROUND THIS]

[nikubaka]

That's right. Each King has his own colored Aura. The Red clan has fire-based powers, for example.

Oh...

[that's weird but okay]

Are you in a clan?

[nikubaka]

Yes, and no. Though Master Ichigen was the Colorless King, I was his only vassal.

[lifemelody]

His vassal?

What's the Colorless King's specialty? Air?

[nikubaka]

Yes. He raised me, and I spent my life dedicated to him.

The Colorless King's ability changes with each generation, as it is the least powerful Aura. My master's power was prophecy.

[lifemelody]

Prophecy...that sounds like both a gift and a curse.
