[The video feed opens today to a blond young lady, who is looking at her tablet as if she isn't quite sure she's gotten it running. Once she confirms that it is, however, Nill smiles as politely as she can. She'd avoided using the video feature in the Port so frequently that this felt alien to her, and the discomfort shows in her face to some extent, but she needed to start making connections here. Get to know people. She couldn't keep acting as if anyone she talked to would disappear a week later.]

Hello everyone. My name is Nill.

[Her wings flutter awkwardly against her back, visible in the video.]

It's nice to meet you all. I arrived here a few weeks ago, and it's taken some getting used to being here. I'm from a city called Siren's Port in Canada, at the start of 2013. If anyone here recognizes the city, I'd appreciate hearing from you-- as far as I know it doesn't exist in most other worlds.

[She pauses briefly, staring at what she's typed, before she flutters her wings again in another slight, awkward gesture.]

I'm sorry if this method of communication is inconvenient for anyone. I can't speak.

I was hoping some of you could tell me the kinds of weapons you were given here, so I can get an idea of what to expect from my own. It doesn't seem to have changed at all since I arrived here.

I was also hoping to find someone that could help move some files onto my tablet from a device with no connection. I know how to work the tablet just fine on my own, but I'm not familiar enough with it yet to find a way to transfer files. They're very important to me, so any help would be appreciated-- I don't want to wait too long to transfer them.

[She smiles at the camera again, and finally decides that she doesn't know what else to say. It's been a long time since she needed to introduce herself like this, but she's pretty sure that was a good way of going about doing things, while also seeming fairly harmless. Finally satisfied with it, she waves at the camera, and the feed clicks off.]

I can't say I've ever heard of any place by that name around here, but I'm chagrin to admit I'm not exactly the world explorer I'd like to paint myself as being. In any case I stuck with my own guns from home so I don't imagine I'll be much help on that front either. Shoot! I'm really not being much help at all today, am I?

[Lena is intrigued by these wings of hers, but she's not going to ask about them. It might be rude.]

[Well hey. Nill doesn't like to use the video function more than she needs to, but since it's Jake... the feed flickers back on, and she smiles slightly.]

Of course. It isn't difficult at all for me to communicate like this, but I don't expect everyone else to do the same.

I chose a pair of guns. They seemed like a good idea at the time.

Well now I wouldn't say that. A lot of people have been here a good deal longer than I have. I'm sure someone will be able to give you a more solid answer.

Well, from what I've heard, you'd need to train with your weapons on a pretty regular basis before you see a change. Of course, I haven't been, so I haven't seen any difference yet.

[A pause between messages.]

i don't remember speaking to anyone named nill. um, how long ago was it? i'm probably just being absentminded.

I've been training pretty frequently. I don't know if it's enough for a change to happen yet, though.]

It's fine if you don't remember me-- I saw you on the network a lot, but we never spoke very much.

you needed help with moving some files?

Yes-- I have something that I brought with me. It's a little bit like the tablets, but not as advanced. It won't hook up to the network here, and I haven't been able to find a charger for it. I've kept it off since I got here-- if I turn it on the battery will run out eventually.

It has several pictures, mp3 files, and text files that are important to me. Do you think you could do anything?

yeah i doubt that will be too much of an issue. you want to drop it by my place and i'll get it back to you in a couple days, tops. i'll put the files on an network-accessible area you can pull them back onto your tablet here.

Ah! I see, you're looking to really get the whole scope here!

I think it might take a few months? But if you're training frequently, you're on the right track.

[She smiles a little sheepishly and shrugs.]

More than I am anyway.

I got a sword, Nill... I guess it hasn't done anything too stunning yet. It does seem really sharp, though.

Me.

I mean-- I didn't want a weapon that could be taken away from me, so I asked if they would make me the weapon. So far though it's just an imitation of the power the Core gave me.

... Oh, that's so smart though! I didn't even think of something like that when I got here.
