I used to have dreams like this.

Well, not exactly like this, I mean. Nothing so specific. But you know how it goes, don't you? Girl dislikes her situation, the way her life is going, the way people treat her, wishes she were anywhere else but there. Then a strange thing occurs, and there's this whole other world that needs her, specifically her. This place sees her for who she is, sees her strengths and the change she wants, and it tells her that she's needed to save this other world. Protect it. She's the only one who can. Like a hero, a ruler, or something else. That part changes pretty easily, I think.

There's a lot of stories like that, too, of course. I don't think I'm the only one who's had a dream like that. We all have our little unhappinesses. And sometimes the new kingdom, she loves it so much she never wants to go home. Sometimes being there just makes her miss everything she left behind, and she does everything she can to go back.

Of course, when I say I used to have dreams like this, that would mean I woke up from them, too.

I suppose this is like that. In a way. It's been almost three weeks now, but I guess I'm still trying to get used to it, that's all.

What were your dreams? Did you have them? Or do you, still? Whatever they are, or were, I hope you keep in mind that you can't trust them. There's no Truth to dreams.

I'll keep it in mind, if I see them around.

There might be others, but there's a lot of people so it'd be better to ask the network at large if you ever need something repaired or built.

It certainly seems like it. So does everyone check this sort of thing regularly?

I think so. People talk a lot on this thing. Always asking questions, too.

Curiosity, boredom, or both, would you wager?

Both, but more on the boredom side. You'll see a lot of people talking about how they don't have anything to do.

I can't really blame them. This whole city seems to be something of a rut.

[gevurah]

The more missions that are completed successfully, the more things should change here.

How does that work, exactly? It never quite makes sense to me, no matter how I approach it.

I'm not too sure.

I don't know if you're familiar with the term "butterfly effect".

Chaos theory. Something about hurricanes, right?

Yeah. I guess if something is fixed in the past, then it will change the course of the future.

Then, how does that affect us?

[gevurah]

It won't. We're not part of this world's timeline, so only the world around us should change.

[heartsink]

But isn't the fact we've been brought here to begin with part of this world's timeline? I mean, if they get this world to move to a timeline that better suits them, then as they exist in the recent past wouldn't need to bring us here in the first place. Right? So wouldn't changing the past eventually mean we never came here in the first place?

[gevurah]

Maybe when the war's over and we manage to fix everything, that'll be our ticket out of here.

I wonder, how would they keep track of their plans, if they're affected by the alterations too?

No idea. Not much is made clear.
