this feed comes within the midst of some, with Simmaeri idly grazing her fingers across the face of the tablet. she's taken to song while she waits for some sound – more fresh voices from the machine. but it's rather late (say, 2am? shush i can forward date if i want), so there's few stirring.

those who do have the network open can hear, though. some foreign song with foreign words, somehow conveying something about silver ladies and faraway cages...sleeping kings and a girl on fire (who isn't alicia keys). slow and soft, rather sad.

it tapers now and then to a humming refrain, the last of which ebbing to quiet with the end of the song.]

( She laughs, an unexpected sound on her part. Collette props her head on her arm, regarding the device they're speaking through. )

Only if you don't mind if I do fall asleep. I don't want to be a rude listener.

( She doesn't want Simmaeri to feel slighted in any particular way. )

[there's the shadow of a chuckle in her voice, faintly mimicking Collette's.]

It is night, Collette. Sleep for the day. Listen and sleep.

[she gives her a lullaby – something that sounds almost German in places, but only just. it's slow, stead...like a mother's rocking motion. breathy, like whispers in the dark, coaxing calm and rest. security assured. a long note like a sigh of leaves rustled in a breeze.

it came from a woman she met once who cared for the children of strangers. Simmaeri altered her voice to mimic her memory: something younger, a little raspy, but hardly in a damaging way to the song. sincere.]

( She yawns again, covering up her mouth as she lets her eyes close while listening. She feels like there's a story somewhere in the sounds, one she doesn't entirely recognize. A faint memory of her mother, her laundry detergent, and that breath of lilac that'd been her favorite scent.

Somewhen as it ends, she stirs again, just conscious enough to have some commentary: )

( ... some deep, mind altering commentary. )

[it's the reaction one would want, really. Simmaeri is glad for it.

warmly, almost a whisper:] Sleep, Collette. There will be day soon.

( A tired smile for a communicator that can't catch it. )
