I have a question.  How do you know when someone is flirting with you?  I just do not understand flirting at all so I do not know how to recognize it.  Or how to even flirt.  It never really seemed like such an important thing.  But apparently it is?

I mean, for us sylvari we are blunt.  If we like someone we tell them.  We do not see a reason to beat around the bush, you could say.    But it seems to be a thing the other races do.

[Silence for a few moments, as if she's debating on adding anything else.]

Now that's a tricky one! It's not like every person has the same technique. I suppose if they seem interested in certain... intimate relations with you that'd be a big giveaway.

But many people don't make their intentions clear. Which is the problem. [She ran into a lot back home. So many frustrated men because she just didn't get what they meant because they weren't direct.]

Yeah... well that's the thing about flirting! Most people aren't looking to carry it that far. At least I'm fairly certain the majority of them aren't at that moment. Sometimes they are...

Well... I guess it makes a lot more sense if you don't think about it so much as a proposition but a way to talk to people you like, but aren't so sure about really getting involved with.

But why would you talk with someone in such a way if you have no intentions of any king of relationship.

And that's the whole point of flirting in the end. For as confusing as it can be when you're first starting off, it's all meant to be fun.

Well what sort of behaviors have been going on that make you unsure about all this?

It's just experiences in the past. Back home there would be many men that would try but I didn't understand so they became frustrated with me. Sometimes angry.

[This also happened a couple times while on that mission before everything went crazy.]

Woah there! Now I can understand wanting a good flirting partner, but there's no reason for them to get hostile towards you for it!

I'm sure in the future just giving a forewarning when people start to flirt with you should be more than enough! Though uh... I suppose that does require being able to identify the flirting in the first place.

Well I think compliments about your appearance are definitely on the top of the list of flirting techniques! Not that all compliments are attempts to flirt either, mind you.
