Why, yes. That's the entire point of it, though likely not in the way you are thinking.

First, I feed on a mortal to a point of near-death. Then, they drink my own blood. Their body dies, and is slowly reanimated into a vampire over the course of the next twenty-four hours. We vampires usually allow a mortal to view their last sunset over this time period. It's... symbolic.
