Perhaps speaking plainly of how things are for you, so she understands that there are things you do not know she might expect you to, might be a course of action.
It may not be the best action, but there may not really be a 'best' action.

I would just talk to her. Approach her and try to get to know her.
It's hard to do it but I think any child would love to meet with a parent they might not know very well.
