[Every feature on her face looks exhausted, it’s clear she hasn’t slept. But her usual determined expression stays the same.]
Again, disastrous problems befell us. And again, not everyone came out of this unharmed. What more will it take to convince others to stand together and fight?
Our threat is not only just this UE, nor the Initiative who has shown its care for us if not recently then in the past on multiple occasions. What’s more, the threat has become infighting as well.
We are on our own.
[A bit of silence with a final AHEM.] With that, I’m announcing our third Defense Meeting that will be held this Saturday morning in the gardens, as last time.
We are a group that in time will grow stronger in defending not only ourselves but each other and that is our cause; to protect each other and fight as one during whatever circumstances, whether they be battles or something similar to what we’ve recently faced. This meeting we will be choosing our leaders amongst our own by nominations and by vote. But I encourage everyone to come and see for themselves the cause we are standing for.
And Barnaby Brooks, if you have a moment, I’d like to speak with you.
[An exhausted sigh, and finally,] ... Thank you. I'm Fiona, and I've been the one organizing these efforts thus far. If you have any questions, I'll answer them.
[OOC: Look who’s back from the dead. \o/ Anyways, OOC Nominations post is here along with link references~ Hooray. :>]

[He has never seen her without her staff. If he can do nothing else, he can at least return that measure of security to her, flimsy as it might be in the face of what happened.
It doesn't take him long to fetch the staff from his bedroom and make his way to her place. His knock upon the door is quick and perfunctory.]
It's Duncan.
[He waits then, the staff with an awkward feel in his hand, definitely a mage's tool, not something suited to a sometime thief and dagger fighter.]
no subject
Still she's not completely making eye contact, every so often she'll flicker a glance and then shift her sight elsewhere.]
Thanks. [She'll take her staff and clutch it tightly. It was good to have it back in her hands, reassuring even more so because she knew she was the one holding it. For the moment that followed, she hesitated, her eyes looking to the hallway and back again before she gestured inside.] You wanted to talk about something else?
no subject
He seems surprised at the gesture to come inside, nodding quickly and stepping past her. Once in the room, he turns to face her again.]
I feel that... [The words trail off quickly. He takes a breath and tries again.]
I don't know how aware you are of what happened. If you have questions...
[Damn it, why is this so hard?] You have a right to know.

But did he really not know what she could recall? She had thought it to be clear considering their battle. But apparently not. And here he was ready to explain it all and surely the ugliest pieces of it if she asked. Expecting her to hate him by the end, perhaps? It bothered her if that’s what this was, him coming expecting her to hate him or punish him. With another clutch of her staff she walked by him, hitting him on the head with the top as she passed. Maybe that would knock some sense into him.]
There, we’re even.
[A flat, if frustrated statement. But she continued walking regardless of his response, all the way to her room as she put her staff away and came back out. Arms crossed as she stood still looking at him with a serious look. But her eyes had softened at least, and she was looking at him. She wasn’t about to attempt drilling a hole with a glare.]
Anything else?
[A kinder statement and the frustration was already ebbing off her tone. But she really could use some time to think right now.]

[His hand instantly flew to the top of his head, rubbing the spot until he mussed his hair. Given the choice between laughing and crying, he'd always choose laughter. The chuckle was more chagrined than amused, but it sufficed to break the tension.]
Do you need anything? So help me, if you do and just try to huff me away because that's what you always do, I just might put a knot on your head, too.
[A searching look. He read her better than she gave him credit for sometimes.]
no subject
I am not huffing you away and I'm fine. What I need is time to organize this meeting and I can manage that on my own easily enough.
no subject
Fair enough. I'm glad you're back.
[Even if it felt strange and surreal, as though he couldn't trust his own eyes. The fact that she was back without the...curse...or whatever it had been had his thoughts traveling down other paths, but he could see that she was exhausted. He wasn't certain he was ready to speak of what preyed on his mind more often than not these days. It was better this way.]
I'll leave you to it, then.
no subject
[For a short moment she looks ready to say more but instead she closes her mouth and simply smiles.]
I'll see you at the meeting.

[He stands there a beat longer than he probably ought then exhales and closes the short distance to the door.
He lets himself out unceremoniously and shuts it gently behind him, picking up speed in his stride down the hallway. It seems his feet better know where to take him than his head, as he winds up in one of the training rooms a short time later, the best place he has found outside of missions to blow off steam.]
