[A slightly pale and more-than-slightly displeased Ema greets the screen. It looks like she may have had one or two or three narrow escapes from undead.]

This is a really nice way to bring us in here... Oh, it's on already--? [she clears her throat and launches in with barely a preamable.]

I'm Detective Ema Skye... I have a question. So we've pretty much taken care of those... zombie-things now, right? [she ticks off on her fingers:] Also, we heard that animals were the disease vectors, and that something called "holy magic" [she wrinkles her nose at that] can cure them.

That's all well and good...But has anyone done a real forensic investigation? We could trace this back to the source, or at least figure out how it happened... [Her displeasure seems to melt away rather quickly.] It's all part of the power of science!

I guess. But it's not like zombies are very scientific anyway, you know?

Not in movies, they aren't. No matter what these people seem to think. But anything that happens in the real world is scientific by definition.

A lot of people around here seem to believe in magic.

Which is stupid, but you can't convince superstitious idiots of everything.

[Says the girl who pilots a 40-meter tall mecha.]

Yeah, so why bother, anyway. What they call magic seems to work, so it can't be magic.

[redheadcarrier]

Yeah! Magic is just something they can't explain yet, so they call it magic instead of bothering to find out.

It's not like we're living in the Dark Ages. Are they gonna start burning people at the stake next?

[skyentific]

Who knows. In some ways it's like this place retreated back there after whatever happened to it. But even in my world, people are ignorant of basic science.
