Second Dirge - [Video]

[The video clicks on to reveal the back of a young woman running away in terror, and a black hand waving after her.]

[Ophelia sounds so amused as she says that, and she turns the camera around to her face, grinning.]

So, I don't know about the rest of you, but I am definitely enjoying all of this. Such panic! [She laughs, and then shakes her head.]

Anyway, not the point. You know those poor little creatures you're all trying to kill? Those bunnies and birds and everything else. You don't have to kill them.

[She turns the camera again to show that her other hand is held out towards her side, and the black tears are stretching off of it, forming into two solid cages on the ground. Inside one, an undead bunny and an undead squirrel are running in circles, and in the other, an undead sparrow flutters about pecking at the black 'bars', to no avail.]

I'll take them off your hands. Aren't they adorable? Just let me know, and I'll come get them.

Unless they bite you, then I suppose you won't be calling anyone. [She smirks, and then pauses.]

Hmm, does anyone know where I can get some more...permanent cages?

[She shrugs.]

Why? They aren't doing anything except what they're supposed to do. It's not their fault they're undead now.

[ He nods, and the sound of a boltgun roaring as it fires can be heard, and then the dull wet thud of a body hitting the floor a moment later follows. ]

It isn't a question of fault. This will destroy the hold if it continues. It is just another form of mercy.

Or you could just let me take them in. They can't hurt me, and I've never had an undead squirrel before.

The threat of contagion is significant. While you may tend them and you are immune to their bite... [ As is he, most likelythough he'd rather not get out of his armor and test that. ] there is always the chance of an escape, or a malefactor consciously letting them out. After all, someone loosed these upon us, I'll warrant. I've seen the like before.

Oh yeah, this is definitely deliberate. Animals don't do this on their own. [Trust her, she knows.] But it's not my fault everyone else insists on not being immune. And I'd like to think I know how to keep something in a cage.

[At least until she gets bored and lets them out, anyway...]

[ Another crash, and the sizzling sound of his lighting claw tearing through the meat of a zombie can be heard for a moment. ]

I think it would be unwise to put that to the test, whatever your individual skills may be.

Do you have an idea who might have done this?

[ He can always tell the Inquisitor if they get a clue from this. ]

I'm not usually big on doing the wise thing, so whatever.

[She shrugs.]

No idea. Whatever they did is different from what I do, these things won't listen to me at all.

[Yes, she's a tad miffed. Free zommbies! And she can't even claim any.]

.... What do you mean? They're undead. They have no minds to listen.

[Ophelia bristles at that.]

That is not true. I mean, these aren't exactly...okay, they're dumb as headbangers, but not all undead are like that.

[Ophelia is never going to think text is anything but boring, so she sighs as she reads it.]

I'm assuming that's one of these little undead animals? Never heard of a skunk...

[Skunks aren't really an age of metal thing.]

[ there's a pause, and it switches to video. there's no one in sight, just a caged and slowly-going-nuts undead skunk. awww how adorably fluffy. after a second, there's a text addition: ]

[Ooh, she doesn't have one of those yet. They're like undead pokemon!]

[Ophelia shrugs. She isn't really going anywhere till she figures out what to do with the critters she's already caught anyway.]

[ It doesn't take her long. In about ten minutes there's a short, brightly colored figure making its way toward Ophelia, caged skunk in one hand. And she's not even using the rooftop highway this time! Her decision to not get bit and zombified dictates that more cautious ground travel is probably best. She makes a beeline for all that creepy black goop stuff and the caged animals as soon as Ophelia's in sight. ]

[Ophelia can't help but raise an eyebrow as the...girl? in the bright colored clothing comes racing towards her with a telltale cage that indicated she was the mysterious text message of before. Huh.]

Hey. Call it a random question, but have you ever heard of Lionwhite? Just wondering from all the...color there.

[Not that she minds color. As long as it's...blue. Or back. Or Grey. Hrm.]

[slingshots]

[ She quirks a brow, because wow, what kind of a name is Lionwhite. Who would ever name themselves after an animal, jeez. ]

Not yet, but I figure there's still hope, in a place like this.

[ She sets the cage down between herself and Ophelia, retreating a couple paces once she has. ]

Just one requirement on this gift.

Hopefully not. He's pretty dead. [Another person she didn't miss in the least. She raises an eyebrow at that last bit, though.]

And that is...?

[slingshots]

[ Oh. Well, scratch that, then. She points to the skunk, who's now trying to gnaw through one of the bars, but not having too much luck. ]

I named him Pepé.
