[The video feed flips on, focusing (after a few seconds of jostling around) on Galadriel, sitting on the steps of the Initiative Hold, her sheathed sword beside her. Having just finished training, she’s attired appropriately, wearing a simple dress and with her hair braided and wound about her head- displaying those pointed ears quite prominently for those who might have missed them before.]

I grow weary of the constant grey here. It is overlong since I have heard a running stream or seen the sunlight filtered through the forest canopy.

Tell me, those of you who have journeyed outside this city: does greenery yet remain in this world? It would do my heart well even to hear of it.

You may yet see more; I have kin here. I hail from Lothlórien in Middle-Earth, little though it will mean to you, I'm sure.

[It is at least a relief that in all of these 'alternative' worlds, elves still exist in some of them.]

No more than Thedas or Antiva would mean to you, I suppose.

Antiva means nothing to me, I fear, but Thedas is familiar. I believe we may have a mutual friend; this Elissa you spoke of is the Lady Cousland, is she not?

[Perhaps acquaintance would be more accurate than friend, at this point, but Galadriel was fond of her and the overstatement did no harm.

And actually, Galadriel was beginning to run into quite a few people from Thedas, whether or not she realizes they are all from the same place.]

[Zevran grins in his recognition. He would be ashamed to realize that the mere mention of her lights him up so.] Yes, I know the Lady Cousland, and saw she made a comment to your post just before I made mine. I am her traveling companion and faithful servant.

[Galadriel thinks it's sweet.] I am glad you have each other for company. This is not an easy place to arrive alone.

No, I imagine not. Though it wouldn't be the first time I turned up somewhere unexpectedly and wound up doing someone else's work of violence. [Yes, he just joked about being forced to fight like it happened all the time... well, because it does.] Lady Cousland is the finest fighter I've known, and I've known many. But I have to wonder why the Initiative called on someone such as you. Perhaps they were lonely and wanted to look upon some particularly elegant beauty...?

[She laughs. Oh, if only he knew- she's probably one of the msot powerful people in her world.] Do not underestimate me, my friend; it is a dangerous mistake.

[She places her sword in her lap, in partial demonstration.] I am not so skilled as the Lady Cousland, but I have not wholly forgotten the use of a blade. And there are weapons more subtle and perilous than steel.

[Which are what truly make her dangerous.]

[Zevran admires the sword, and completely believes her. He's never been so stupid as to assume he can ever know any person, least of all a woman, simply by appearances.]

I see. I do so love dangerous beauty. It's particular flattering on a woman.

I do know a fair thing about some of the more perilous weapons: poisons, knots, smiles. A good assassin keeps a wide array of stock.

An assassin, are you? [Something about that seems to strike her as funny.] Somehow, I imagined that, if ever I should meet one, we would not speak so pleasantly.

You might be surprised. My line of work rather depends on that - what did you call it? - silver tongue.

But I'd hardly introduce myself if you were my mark. [A pause.] Or perhaps I would, to get your guard down. It always saddens me to kill a beautiful woman, though. It does so ruin whatever rapport I may have had with her.

Aside from the case of Elissa, who bested me and ever-so-graciously allowed me into her service instead.

[And her opinion of Elissa just went up even more. She respects a person who shows mercy when there is room for it.]

I do like to think I am much more charming alive than I would be dead.

I'm sure you are. [A grin.] Not everyone is, you know. I've definitely had conversations with people who were a lot easier to get along with as corpses.

[A chuckle] That would require a particularly ill-humored sort, would it not?
