Video/Action; pretend this was posted at a normal hour
[The video feed flips on, focusing (after a few seconds of jostling around) on Galadriel, sitting on the steps of the Initiative Hold, her sheathed sword beside her. Having just finished training, she’s attired appropriately, wearing a simple dress and with her hair braided and wound about her head- displaying those pointed ears quite prominently for those who might have missed them before.]
I grow weary of the constant grey here. It is overlong since I have heard a running stream or seen the sunlight filtered through the forest canopy.
Tell me, those of you who have journeyed outside this city: does greenery yet remain in this world? It would do my heart well even to hear of it.

[voice]
There is little green to be found, and the poor excuses for forests are strange and mutated. It is an ugly land all around.

I am inclined to agree and more's the shame. It seems a little thing, in light of our circumstances, yet a bit of beauty would raise spirits, I think. [And it's a little tough here for someone who feels such a strong connection to the land.]

[he's not the harmonizing with nature type, certainly, and he doesn't have much use for beauty--but this place really is hideous, even he can agree with that much.]
Or else go out and have a look at what manages to grow here. Perhaps you'll find it more pleasing than I did.

Perhaps I might even convince my granddaughter to accompany me, then.

Your granddaughter.

[just how many of you are there! that's what he wants to ask, but that's just outright rude. he'll save outright rudeness for later. so instead, stiffly:]
It's unexpected. That's all. Just like everything else here.

[But she'll offer a little smile. Look, she knows that she's not exactly what mortals picture when they think "grandmother." She gets that it's weird for some people.]
I gather from your reaction, I am the first elf you have met.

[well. that answers that question. and for real grandmothers have no business looking so-- is it all right to think beautiful? yes, probably, so long as it remains a beauty not precisely trusted just yet.]
Well-observed. You're the first. Are there many of you here, besides your granddaughter?
no subject
[Galadriel can't exactly blame him for his lack of trust; not without being a hypocrite, anyway. And she's the last to deny that she's dangerous. She's just also good.]
Several; Her father is here also. The other elves you may meet do not hail from my home. I cannot speak of them overmuch.
no subject
I suppose I will see them in time. And your name?
no subject
I am Lady Galadriel of Lothlórien. [A little nod of her head.] And you?
no subject
Prince Arthur Pendragon, of Camelot. I'd say it was good to meet you, but given the circumstances...
[and, you know. It's not. elves are sort of suspicious.]
