[ Initially, Rika was surprised to receive a tablet. It was even more surprising to her when she opened it up to see a keyboard and several options on the screen. She was never really technology savvy, especially since she came from a rural village like Hinamizawa. Typing was never taught in her classes, but she managed to type out a message in text! All with one finger. It took her awhile, but the hard work paid off. ]

hello. my name is furude rika. i am from hinamizawa village located in shishibone city in japan. i am looking for some friends of mine.

[ Typing with one finger is taking far too long for her. It takes her a few minutes, but suddenly she switches the post to video (after submitting part of her text message.) A small girl with long blue hair, about nine or ten, turns up on screen. She sighs, scratching her head for a moment and seeming a little frustrated having to work with the tablet. ]

Their names are Satoko, Keiichi, Mion, Shion, and Rena. If anyone has run into anyone that goes by those names, please let me know.

[ There's an awkward pause. She doesn't know what else she should say or ask for. Finding her friends is all she can think about. Before long, she bows her head. ]

[ ACTION ]

[ Rika is running around the city, desperately calling out for somebody. She's wearing a large jacket over the simple dress she arrived in. It's a little big for her, like she just bought it without too much thought. ]

Hanyuu...! Hanyuuuuu...! Where are you?!

[ Strangely, "Hanyuu" wasn't listed amongst the people in her video post. Rika thought it would be strange for her to mention the name of ~~her not-so-imaginary friend~~ someone she can only see.

If you suddenly meet eye contact with her or if she notices you staring, she'll suddenly fall quiet, embarrassed, and briskly start trying to walk the opposite direction. ]

[ ooc: Feel free to respond to her in video or run into her around the city. Roommates, feel free to start an action post in their room. ]

[ And she's beginning to feel a little bad for having yelled at him earlier. Here he is trying to help her... and she should try to do the same too. ] Who are you searching for?

Rika. It is a pleasure to meet you.

I am looking for my friends, Pokemon who were traveling with me. I'm certain they are here somewhere-- I originally had six of them, but only one was permitted to remain with me...

[he tries not to look too crestfallen or worried, but he can't help it. his friends mean everything to him, so to be forced apart from them like this is difficult.]

...Pokemon? [ She understands what it's like to be separated from your precious friends and all, but that word throws her off. Have a confused stare. ] Mii. What's... Pokemon?

[the question seems to lighten his mood-- sweet smeargle balls, he loves explaining pokemon to people.]

Pokemon are amazing creatures from my world. They are far more intelligent than humans, and capable of many great feats man could only dream of! They come in many different species and types, and have a vibrant array of personalities and emotions. I have a Pokemon with me as well-- her name is Ninetales, and she's very beautiful.

M, mii... I see... [ Well, at least it looks like he's lightening up over the topic. Rika tries to feign interest. She might need a visual aid to see difference between the animals she already knows.

She glances around. ] Where is Ninetales?

[someone somewhere is apologizing for how awkward N is...]

She should be nearby-- Ah.

[as if on cue, ninetales rounds a corner nonchalantly, as if she hadn't been missing for the last few minutes. with a few languid steps, she approaches the pair before pausing at N's side, looking between him and rika as if awaiting an introduction.]

Ninetales, this is Rika. And Rika, this is Ninetales, one of my Pokemon friends.

...She's really pretty.

[ ...Ninetales. That name makes sense. Surprisingly, seeing Ninetales manages to get a small, genuine smile out of Rika. GASP. She always thinks of herself as an old witch, but a part of her remains a little girl. She likes cute and pretty things...

She bends a little to be at the same level as the Pokemon. ]

Nice to meet you, Ninetales.

[ninetales is pleased with the compliment and yips in greeting, standing to move closer to the girl and offering her one of her usual bright and alluring smiles. she seems to want to be pet.]

[is it appropriate to thank someone for complimenting his friend? human etiquette is as complex as ever.]

She's very sweet, so may pet her if you'd like. I assure you doesn't bite nor will she set you on fire.

[he says this so casually-- ninetales curls her tails around herself just to make sure she keeps her word.]

...set me on fire? She can really do that?

[ In her world, kitsune were a common subject, but only existed in Japanese folklore. Rika extends her hand, reaching to scratch Ninetales behind the ears. ]

I've heard about similar creatures like her in stories. I never thought I would ever see a nine-tailed fox like her in person.

Really?

[he seems genuinely intrigued by this. there are similar stories surrounding ninetales, like the myth if you grab one by the tail it curses you for eternity-- but those all have scientific and real-life basis.]

That's strange. I wonder if the stories are similar? They say if you touch a Ninetales' beloved tails, you will be cursed, not to mention attacked by it most likely.

[as if to show off, ninetales turns to the side to exhale a small flurry of fire.]

There might be something like that. A lot is said about the nine-tailed fox. They can shape shift and are capable of possession. The people from my world highly respect them due to their association with a deity. [ Though the local god in her village was the Shrine God, she at least knew a little bit about the other kami in folklore. There were too many tales and she was merely naming some of the facts from the top of her head. ]

Mii! [ Then she squeaks, falling on her bottom. That little fire flurry startled her a bit. ]

That sounds amazing! Such creatures are definitely worthy of great respect! Even in my world, possession is no simple feat only the most advanced of psychics can--

[thankfully (?) his tangent was interrupted by ninetales surprising rika, and N looks about ready to have a heart attack.]

Ninetales! Stop that at once! --Are you alright?

[he gives ninetales an admonishing look before turning to rika to offer her his hand.]

I apologize, she's a bit of a show-off, I don't know what she was thinking.

[ Don't worry, she's still alive! Grasping N's hand, she pulls herself back up and dusts off the back of her dress. ]

M, mii... I'm fine. I was only a little surprised. [ Yeah, a little. With a small smile, she looks at Ninetales. ] She really is amazing though. Thank you for showing me that.

Are you sure?

[he seems pacified enough when she's back on her feet.]

As long as it was able to brighten your day somewhat, then I suppose it's fine.

[ Brighten her day? It really did get a small thrill out of her now that she thinks about it. Although she misses the former world and her friends, some of the new things in this strange world is quite refreshing to see. ]

...Yes. I'm sure. I wouldn't mind seeing what else she can do.
