[ TEXT&VIDEO ]

[ Initially, Rika was surprised to receive a tablet. It was even more surprising to her when she opened it up to see a keyboard and several options on the screen. She was never really technology savvy, especially since she came from a rural village like Hinamizawa. Typing was never taught in her classes, but she managed to type out a message in text! All with one finger. It took her awhile, but the hard work paid off. ]

hello. my name is furude rika. i am from hinamizawa village located in shishibone city in japan. i am looking for some friends of mine.

[ Typing with one finger is taking far too long for her. It takes her a few minutes, but suddenly she switches the post to video (after submitting part of her text message.) A small girl with long blue hair, about nine or ten, turns up on screen. She sighs, scratching her head for a moment and seeming a little frustrated having to work with the tablet. ]

Their names are Satoko, Keiichi, Mion, Shion, and Rena. If anyone has run into anyone that goes by those names, please let me know.

[ There's an awkward pause. She doesn't know what else she should say or ask for. Finding her friends is all she can think about. Before long, she bows her head. ]

...thank you.

[ ACTION ]

[ Rika is running around the city, desperately calling out for somebody. She's wearing a large jacket over the simple dress she arrived in. It's a little big for her, like she just bought it without too much thought. ]

Hanyuu...! Hanyuuuuu...! Where are you?!

[ Strangely, "Hanyuu" wasn't listed amongst the people in her video post. Rika thought it would be strange for her to mention the name of ~~her not-so-imaginary friend~~ someone she can only see.

If you suddenly meet eye contact with her or if she notices you staring, she'll suddenly fall quiet, embarrassed, and briskly start trying to walk the opposite direction. ]

[ ooc: Feel free to respond to her in video or run into her around the city. Roommates, feel free to start an action post in their room. ]

[Utena had been somewhere inbetween anxious and bored during her time here, but her recent poking around on the network had left her feeling more optimistic, at least as far as entertainment went.

She's in the city today, searching around for an open area large enough to house a makeshift baseball field or basketball court. Utena makes a detour in the Marketplace during the course of her little expedition — some of the merchants know her by name, and seem happy enough to make small talk. She's just finished up a purchase, when a girl's voice catches her attention.]

Geez, you're kinda loud. [It's stated more as a statement of fact than an insult, but politeness kicks in a second later when she notes how young this girl looks.] D'you need help looking for someone?

[ In her desperation, she hadn't realized how much louder her shouts were growing. ]

I...

[ Rika stares at the older girl, falling silent for a moment and feeling reluctant to respond. There were several people she was searching for. The Game Club could easily respond to her with the tablet. But Hanyuu... she was a different case.

It might not matter here if she honestly explained Hanyuu's existence, but she's far too used to keeping her a secret. ]

...I do, but I don't know if you can help me.

[ That yelling is hard to miss, even for someone with other things on their mind. Sayaka's taking a break from training to grab something to eat when she spots (hears, really) Rika, and she blinks. ]

Hanyuu...? [ It's not like she's much older, but the idea of just letting this kid run around alone doesn't sit right with Sayaka - not bothering to change out of her magical girl outfit, she runs after her. ] Hey, wait up!

[well, the natural thing to do when one sees a child running around, screaming an unrecognizable name is to see if they're alright. it takes a lot of inward encouragement ('just do it N, if you don't no one else will, it's just talking to a child!'), but eventually (reluctantly) he approaches the girl.]

You seem lost.

[he hopes he isn't too awkward, even though he knows he probably is...]

[ Hearing a voice call for her, Rika clumsily slows down to a stop. At least, she's glad she no longer had the red in her eyes when she first arrived. She'd feel stupider if someone had caught her crying.

She turns to glance back at Sayaka, wearing a listless frown. If she were in a better mood, she might have tried faking a smile. And ask if that magical girl outfit was some kind of cosplay. With all the different people here though, it's not that surprising anymore. ]

...What is it?

[ Have a frowning little child. There's no energy in her to pull off at least a false smile and act nice. ]

...I'm not lost. I know where I am.

[ She doesn't mean to sound cold, but she's frustrated and losing hope. ]

[Utena crouches down a little so that she can be at eye level with Rika, balancing her bag in one hand. It smells of fresh bread.]

Hey, it's worth a shot, right? And four eyes are better than two. I've got nothing better to do anyway, and a kid like you shouldn't be alone in a place like this.

[The lady had explained a lot about what was going on, but it's an awful lot to sink in. So while Rinoa tries to figure out just what's going on and how it applies to her personally, she's also trying to figure out this strange communicator that she was given. Computers never have been one of her strengths after all.]

[She's not so caught up in the device to keep from ignoring that she's not the only one in this place though, so after a moment she gives up on the device and goes to introduce herself.]

Hey, looks like we're roommates, huh? I'm Rinoa.

[thankfully the sobriety of her tone doesn't daunt him from trying to reach out anyway. being child-minded and missing his own friends, N knows how difficult it is to wonder about their safety and be unable to do much else.]

Then I take it you're looking for someone?

[ Seriously far too much information. And with other thoughts distracting Rika, she had a difficult time paying attention. Most of it hadn't completely sunk in yet. She would have to check her communicator later and re-read everything later.

After Rika made her post on the tablet, she started to space out. It takes her a moment for her to realize there's now someone else in the room talking to her. ]

M- mii... [ She lets out a small squeak. Delayed reaction! But she bows her head politely to Rinoa. ] Rinoa. My name is Rika. Furude Rika. It's nice to meet you.

[ ...oh, fresh bread smells good! Rika hasn't even bothered to check any of the markets and buy something to eat yet back in her room. Friends first though, food later.

She awkwardly averts her eyes to the side, but it doesn't take long for her to look back at the older girl, giving a reluctant nod. She doubts another set of eyes would be much help... she could use the company though. ]

Mii. [ That might be a sound of confirmation that she's okay with this! You'll be hearing her make that little noise often, Utena. ] I want to search further into the city. I've only recently arrived... I don't know the area very well yet.

I am. I've been looking around for awhile now.

[ Then she lowers her gaze to the ground. She doesn't have much to say, but it's obvious that her search isn't going well at all. ]

[ Oh, this kid is intense. Sayaka hesitates, not really sure if interrupting was the best idea after all - it's too late to take it back now, though, and helping out is definitely the heroic thing to do here. ]

Its nothing bad! I just heard you yelling. [ She laughs; it's a little awkward, but obviously meant to be reassuring. ] Is Hanyuu a friend of yours? I can help you look, if you want.

I see.

[it doesn't seem as if her search is going well at all, which doesn't surprise him because what he's learned about this place based on what the other initiatives have told him is that it sucks togepis.

overcome by thoughtfulness as he wonders about his own friends, both the ones he had befriended during the summer of his search, as well as the ones he'd left behind so long ago, N turns his gaze skyward, his tone poignant and distant.]

I doubt you will find them. It seems this place is adept at taking friends from people. They are most likely safe, wherever they are, but it may be a long while until you may see them again.

Nice to meet you too, Rika.

[She folds the device up and shoves it into her pocket.]

So you're new? I couldn't help but overhear. I just got here myself.

[Rinoa pauses, thinking something for a moment before adding a question to everything else she's already said.]

So, do you think it's a good idea to ask around to see if there are people from our own worlds here?

[Because she'd kinda assumed they wouldn't be here honestly.]

[ Rika could use a hero! Have some intense line facing though. That reassuring laugh is not going to make her budge a smile. Too late for her to lie and cover up she was calling for someone named "Hanyuu". ]

Yes, she is my friend. [ And relative. ] You won't be able to see her, if you tried.

[ Hear her, maybe... but that's normally during high levels of paranoia. She's aware that her words might sound really strange, but she doesn't seem to care much right now! ]

[ ..."Safe"? Hearing that and already knowing what kind of fate lies ahead for herself and her friends, she knows that's not true. Sheesh, Rika. It's not this stranger's fault for not knowing what went down in her world, but she can't help but cry out: ]

It's not safe!

Mii. They should have received communicators if they arrived here like us. It's worth a try.

[ Maybe Rinoa might have better luck than Rika. Knowing her friends, they would have contacted her almost immediately after her message. Unfortunately, she hasn't heard anything yet. Especially from Hanyuu. It was strange, especially since they would always be together. ]

[that was a good trip to the library, yes. Rosalyn & Solomon return to their room to see it occupied by someone else! finally she has a roommate!]

Why hello there. Are you staying in this room with me?

[ That is one sullen-looking little girl just sitting there, waiting hopelessly for a familiar face to respond to the message she posted. It's all useless! ]

Mii? [ Hearing the voice, she looks up. So this must be her other roommate! ] ...Yes. My name is Rika. Furude Rika. And you are?

[ If only you'd met her at an earlier canonpoint, Rika. ]

I wouldn't? Geez, she must be really shy or something... [ Sayaka being shy doesn't make people impossible to see... but she shrugs. ] Well, that's okay. If you're looking for someone, then you're new here, right? I can at least show you around.

[she offers a friendly smile to her at first] My name is Rosalyn Cross & this here, is Solomon. [a gesture is made to the smiling pink blob bouncing towards them.] I'm pleased to meet you, Rika. This room is going to be so much more lively now!

[buuut then she realizes that the girl wasn't smiling so she crouches down with a concerned look] Did... you just arrive?

[thankfully he doesn't object to her outburst, is a little too familiar with being spoken to in such a way (he has his father to thank for that); N calmly returns his gaze to the girl. if only he knew how to deal with people in this state... he feels badly for her, but at the same time, the only humans he's seen this outwardly upset were his father and sages, and his servants wouldn't dare lash out at him like this.]

It seems as though there is something only you can do waiting for you. While I don't know what that may be, I was told that time somehow stands still in our own worlds while we are here.

[it's somewhat comforting to think about, and he knows dialga works in strange ways, but still.]

I can't offer you peace, I hope that knowledge helps somewhat.

It does sound like everyone gets one when they get here. Though they really could explain how they work better.

I'm sure they'll turn up eventually, your friends. Maybe not now, but eventually.

[She'd offer to share her friends, but who'd want Squall and Seifer? No one, that's who.]

Who the hell are you shouting for? Can't you just call? It works a lot faster.
