It's hard to say. You don't look like any mononoke or anything from my world's spirit realm Kuukan, for that matter. I wouldn't say I sense fear from it but more unfamiliarity.

In my world, it's split into two realms: the spirit one I mentioned earlier and a living realm. Souls who live out their lives in the living realm return back to Kuukan where they await their next cycle of reincarnation, which there are many tiers, ranging from gods to beasts.

Where I fit, huh? I suppose you could say I at first rebelled but now I embrace my future role.

Expected... I guess that depends on what kind of life you were brought up in. My father - the only thing he expected out of me was to marry into money, to be a proper lady - he didn't really acknowledge me any other time. But I didn't want that kind of life - I wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps, and become the greatest Celestial Wizard in Fiore. So I rebelled against the rules my father set, and went after what my heart wanted.

Where I am from, tales of creatures like me often end with "and after we caught the creature we killed it", or burned it alive, or some other fate. Those like me are expected to be destroyers, despoilers, bringers of horror and sources of violence, existing to bring foul evil upon the land.

If you begin with those tales, I am a rebel, a betrayer of the purposes I exist for, and a traitor to all I should hold to my heart, for I am none of these things.

Ah, now, that is a layered question. As a human and a male from Japan, I am expected to be the provider of my family, a protector, the person who gets a good job and brings home the pay that will allow my family to thrive in the world. However, I had looked at that life and found it lacking in things I enjoy, so I declared myself a ronin - an outsider of those expectations who instead falls into other lifestyles.
