1 - Video / Action for roomies perhaps?

[Video]

[The video flicks on to reveal a young-ish looking lady, perhaps in her late teens or very early twenties. Despite being an obvious new arrival, she seems fairly at ease with the situation.]

So... I don't have to fill out stacks of paperwork, right? I'd probably have something by now if this place was like that.

[A slight pause... is this really the time to reminisce about that other place? No, not really.]

A-anyway! I'm Kazumi Hagino, it's nice to meet you. [she bows a little as she gives her introduction]

I was wondering if anybody could point me toward the portal back home? I'd like to help out, really, but there's some things back home that I really need to take care of right now...

((Kazumi's roomies can find her lounging around in the living room, playing around with her netbook))

[There's a pause-wait, she's seen stranger, right? Right.]

Sorry, I don't know who Loiec is...? I was just assigned this room.

Ohhh. Loiec's our other roommate, and you're a new roommate!

[ And with that Nik goes over and plops himself right down on the floor in front of her. He drinks from his juicebox and stares at her veeeery thoughtfully. He sticks a tiny hand out to her. ]

I'm Nikolai. Nice to meet you, miss.

[Kazumi accepts his hand, giving it a small shake.]

Kazumi Hagino. Nice to meet you, too, Nikolai.

I haven't had the chance to meet Loiec yet... ... ah, well, that's obvious, huh?

I dunno where he is. He'll probably come back eventually....

[ Nikolai took another drink before a new question occurred to him. ]

Where are you from, Miss Kazumi?

Japan. Tokyo, specifically. [She briefly wonders if Nik even knows where that is. Well, if he's not from an Earth, he can always ask.]

What about you, Nik?

[She hopes he doesn't mind the nickname.]

[ Nikolai's head slowly tilts to one side. It sounds like it should be familiar, like many things -- but that's all. He shakes his head and leaves it. ]

I'm from the Triad. But it's all broken and it's cold up there and, um, I don't think you can get to it from here anyway....

[The first thing that comes to mind is the Chinese Triad, but that's not really a "place" to be from, right?]

It doesn't seem like any of us can get to our homes from here, unfortunately.

... what do you mean broken and cold?

[ Nikolai rocks backwards and starts talking rapidly. ]

The world I came from got all destroyed and the place that I was from got really destroyed. No one lives there anymore. Also it's all cold all the time now. But it doesn't snow. It's just cold. [ Nik frowns. ] I don't like going back there.

What is To...kyo like?

As for Tokyo, well... it's a big city, with a lot of people. For the most part it's a really nice place. I live near the Akihabara district, which has all sorts of fun stores and events.

[thleepy]

[ Nikolai ignores the first question, far too interested in this magical Tokyo place now. ]

Is it like here? With all the people and the buildings and electricity? [ Nik finishes off the rest of his juicebox before continuing. ] We used to have all that, where I came from. But it's all gone now. So I like it here. But I bet I would like Tokyo too.

[She's not one to push a subject that's uncomfortable for the other person (unless it's important for whatever reason), so she won't press the question further]

The usual stuff like that is around, definitely. There's also video games and manga... [a pause] though, I haven't had a chance to find out if this place has anything like that around yet.

[ Nik is completely blank on that. Video games? He knows what those are. The other thing, though.... ]

What's a manga?

By the way, does his head really look like it's bleeding all the time like in Nik's default icon?@_@

Ah... do you know what comic books are? They're basically the Japanese version of those.

oh oops, no not all the time! only some of the time, and not right now :D

Oh! I think I know what comic books are. I bet there are comic books here. But they might not be Japanese. Do you only like Japanese comic books?

I've never actually had the time to try out other types of comics.

Then maybe you will get to try them out here? I dunno what they have though! I've never read a comic book.

Okay good! [ Nik picks himself up to toddle over and try to deliver a hug. ] Let's be really good friends too okay?
