[Looking annoyed and more than a little irritated, Claire’s pacing in her room with her communicator, the video focused on her face from a lower angle.] Usually when you’re drafted to fight a war, it’s at least in the right century.
Look. I need to get back home. I know that everyone's probably saying the same thing. But the entire world was about to change, and I'm needed there. You can't just take people against their will like this. I don't care about your war, I need to be fighting my own.
[A sigh. She lifts the camera for a clearer view of her face.] In the meantime, I guess I should say.. My name is Claire Bennet. And I guess while I'm here I could use a little training.
[Action, Open!]
[Claire's standing near a bench in the courtyard, fearlessly twirling her Kamas in her hands. It's a good thing she did all of that baton twirling in Cheerleading camp that one summer, otherwise it would have taken her a lot longer to figure it out. She still can't quite figure out what sort of technique she's supposed to use with these things. The sharp and pointy part she gets, but the fighting discipline is is way over her head.
Wearing new clothes and being much cleaner and well put-together than she was when she first arrived, the expression on her face suggests that she's either bored or deep in thought.
She wonders if there's a way to send a message back through time to Hiro, or to her dad, or Peter. Then she'd be able to get out of here, get back where she belongs. Though.. A part of her is a little relieved she doesn't have to see that heartbroken look on her dad's face right now. She's not really looking forward to having to explain her actions to everyone.
Maybe the temporary kidnapped state will be a good thing.]

...Oh.
[Blink. Blink, blink.]
So. Bad news. Except for the comic book stuff. ..Probably.

no subject
[Except for the fact that Claire has a stellar history of being a magnet for psychopaths and stalkers.
She picks up another cookie but doesn't bite into it yet.]
So.. What did you do? Before all this.

[He doesn't even hesitate. That's what he's been telling people for a while now. Half-truths everywhere.]
Well, I mean - I still am. I work in the labs here, too, for the Initiative.
no subject
Wow. That's.. Unexpected. [Nervous smile.] Not that.. Just, I usually picture chemists as being much.. ... Older.

That's cool, though.
[Aaaaand cookie biteage. Claire's looking at Jesse with a little more interest than before.]

...I wonder if they'll take kidnapped to a post-apocalyptic future as an excuse for me flunking out.

Ff-yeah. That would be great.
[She beams, before the smile fades.] I'm not sure if I'm going to go back, anyway. To college. I'm not sure yet.
no subject
[Certainly wasn't for him.]
What would you wanna do instead?
no subject
[Well she's probably stuck with being famous now.]
Maybe travelling. Backpacking across Europe or something. [Snerk.] Sounds kinda stupid.

[Except he's really bad at hiding the sadness that accompanies the thought of going home, and it creeps into his voice.]
no subject
...Or not?
no subject
I was kinda thinking I wouldn't go back, you know? 'cause it's pretty nice here.
no subject
..Right.
[She takes a minute to think. Hesitating. Her mood falls to concern and empathy.]
It's that bad?
no subject
[He shrugs, turning that cookie around and around in his hands.]
Nah, it's just... You know. Sometimes you get to a place in your life where there's nowhere else to go. So you do something new.
no subject
Yeah. I know what you mean.
[A tiny, sad smile lingers at the corners of her lips as she looks down at her entwined hands, fiddling briefly.]
Well. I'm glad you're here, Jesse. Not the whole being kidnapped part, but that I met you. [She looks at him again.] So, thanks.
no subject
I'm glad I met you, too.
no subject
Now that that's taken care of.. [She chuckles a little, lightly blushing.]
no subject
Oh god, it's melting everywhere. I'm so sorry about this, just -
[Yeah, he jams the cookie in his mouth, smearing melty chocolate everywhere.]
