video;
( Winry taps on her tablet screen, waiting for some sign of feedback. When it plays, it shows her frowning, bandana in hair, apron on. That also appears to be the ceiling. )
No, send the message already, don't do whatever you're doing now --
( Ah, but the tapping pays off, the video feed ending and a text message posting to the network soon after. )
Imports -
I'm looking for some kind of foam molding to outfit a leg I'm working on now that my customers have all reappeared. I don't know if any of you have worked with prosthetic limbs before, but I've heard rumors of some kind of shape-retaining foam that used to be used for them? Has anyone seen some kind of material that would work similarly?
Let me know if you have, or if there's any good scrap metal or hardware stores you've run into off the main part of the city.
Thank you,
Winry Rockbell

[ always those transport appartments.
anyway yes, he'll be knocking at the door sometime later. ]

Hello! I'm Winry Rockbell.
( She offers him her hand for a handshake. )
Are you the man with the cybernetic enhancements and prostheses?
no subject
[ wow you're a shorty. But then again, Adam's sort of a giant... at least he doesn't feel to awkwards taking her hand, in this case. ]
I'm -- not having any issues right now, but you might as well preemptively take a look.
no subject
( After that handshake, she takes a step back and invites him in with a nod of her head. )
I'm down at the end of the hall. Neither roommate's home right now, but you'll probably be more comfortable not having to worry about being surprised by anyone you aren't expecting. How long have you had your augmentations?
( She leads the way, intensely curious and looking at Adam's face for now. Show her everything: she'll eat it up. ... Because active mind and all. )
no subject
Well, it's always the same thing. Adam lets himself be led inside, listening to what she has to say without being able to add anything himself until she asks him a direct question. ]
A little over... eight months now, I believe. Let's just go with 'almost a year'.
[ It's really been that long. Feels like forever, already. ]
They were necessary, at the time.
[ He'll leave it at that. Might as well shrug out of his coat already and neatly fold it together so she can get a good look at his
beautifully craftedarms. ]no subject
( Winry trails off, eyes widening as she turns back to Adam and sees -- those magnificent, astounding, beautiful works of mechanical artistry. Her hands come up to her face, and she gasps in pure pleasurable excitement. )
Those... are... amazing!
( She's invading his personal space and lifting one of his arms so she can trace the interconnected pieces, marveling at the craftsmanship that went into creating such appendages. )
That's an interesting design choice -- what alloy did they use? Do you have weapon components? I wish I could speak with your designing mechanic. What do the connections look like? How fully integrated are they?
( This might be the happiest day of Winry's life since entering Exsilium. )
no subject
Well that's different from the usual reaction. Adam's not sure how to feel about that... probably just awkward. ]
... I don't really know. I'm not into science or advanced cybernetics. They're mainly made of advanced polymers and lightweight metals, but that's all I can tell you. [ a beat. ] And that they're military grade. I've got combat nano-ceramic blades installed in both of them. Then --
[ He points at those little orange circles. ] The Typhoon. But I can't show you that.
[ YOU'D DIE. ]
no subject
What activates this Typhoon? Where are the nano-ceramic blades stored?
( She's still looking his arm over, closer to examining his shoulder joints and calculating the way the machinery all fits together in order to work as smoothly as it did -- and with no physical therapy recuperation time like she'd have expected. This should have taken a year, had this been automail, to get him used to working with the new systems. )
What do the connective interfaces look like?
no subject
[ Most of which he can't even answer. Can he sit down first, though? That would be nice. He'll also have to strip some more if she wants to see where and how the prostheses connect to his shoulders. Hope you don't mind half naked, shirtless men, Winry. ]
I activate it by will. Sorta like you'd use a natural limb... same for the blades.
[ He can do that. The blade just sort of pops outta his arm. ]
no subject
( Does he want to sit? She's still in process of getting him settled into her room, gesturing for him to take a seat at her (organized but clearly in use) desk. The chair is facing toward the door as it is.
Winry taps on his arm blade once it's extended, measuring relative lengths with her naked eye and wondering about the storage mechanisms. )
None of these required extensive therapy time to get used to using?
( She finds that almost too amazing to believe. )
no subject
But he doesn't answer her next question immediately, because he's not sure how he should even start. He leans back, and the blade slides back into his arm again. ]
There was no extensive physiotherapy. It took me less than six month to be fully 'functional'. As far as I understood it, they... specifically modified me in order to shorten the recovery time. Your usual augmentation user has one central biochip inside his or her brain that serves as main control hub, I got a couple. Don't ask me for specifics.
[ That's what he read, anyway. ]
... Then again, I guess I'm special.
no subject
I'd love to take you apart to see how this all ticks...
( Wait, Winry, that sounds wrong -- )
Figuratively speaking! I've heard of similar recovery times only once or twice working with automail, and there's no help from chips running anything in those cases. How many do you have? Two? Four? All in your brain?
no subject
[ He's been taken apart once already. He can do without a second time. ]
And I'm sorry, but I really don't know. At least one is in my head. The others too, probably, but I can't tell for sure.
What's automail?
