002 ♛ Public Service Announcement: Lucifer | Filtered away from Lucifer and Meg

[ Castiel is making another one of his rare public appearances on the network, having few topics he is willing to discuss that would be appropriate for public consumption. But the topic was one that needed to be urgently discussed -- a warning of a new threat when the Initiative was already at their weakest. ]

Some of you may be aware of a... middle-aged man bearing a white bastard sword from his correspondence last night. This man is not as harmless as outer appearances may lead one to believe.

He is an angel, and his real name is Lucifer. This name may or may not be familiar to you, but he is known by many names. Beelzebub, Satan, the Devil... Lucifer is not to be trusted -- he is powerful, he is driven by vengeance and hate... and his merciless disregard for human life is unmatched. He is not to be trifled with.

I don't know what the Initiative was thinking bringing him here. But you must all of you be on your guard.

This protection goes both ways, Mystique. While I strive to keep him from harm, I am also attempting to keep him from doing harm.

[ Like shooting blue ladies he's friends with. ]

[She sighs, crossing her arms over her chest on the feed.]

Yeah, well. I guess can't complain about that part, since nobody's tried to shoot me lately, but -- why are you protecting him, exactly?

...I can't tell you that.

[ Obviously, he struggles with this, but it would reveal too much of his identity. The answer is so simple -- Because he's important to Dean Winchester would narrow down the list of men it could be significantly. ]

Of course not, because that would actually be useful.

You are angry with me.

[ Captain Obvious strikes again. ]

I'm annoyed that both you and Dean seem to think it's okay to just promise me that 'this guy you know' isn't going to bother me any more. Did it occur to anyone that I want to make sure of that myself?

[Which she's doing with her secret sneaky identity, but ... shhhh.]

[ Castiel hesitates, his expression suddenly turning apologetic with one remorseful, downward cast of his eyes. ]

I'm sorry, Mystique.

...I am trying to protect those important to me. [ Important to Dean. ]

[You know, for someone who's supposed to be angelic and superior ... Cas does a pretty good kicked puppy expression.]

Yeah, yeah. I know.

[ One could argue that he learnt it from Sam Winchester... but let's face it... he's a damn natural. ]

No, you don't. I... truly am sorry.

Mystique... you did not deserve that. I'll make it right somehow... I promise.

[Sam hasn't turned that particular talent on her yet, or she'd have his suspicions.

She sighs, though, and tries to look a little less grouchy.]

I believe you, Cas. I do.

[ The angel seems vaguely shocked at this, but relieved. It's rare that someone has faith in his words, especially so readily. ]

...Thank you.

[To be fair, he's yet to show her anything that he hasn't at least put some sort of proof behind at some point...and he was at least honest enough to give her a straight, if unsatisfying answer about why he wouldn't tell her who the man was to him. That's enough to earn at least a little trust, with how long they've known each other.]

Don't sound so surprised I decided to believe you. Just don't make me regret it.
