002 ♛ Public Service Announcement: Lucifer | Filtered away from Lucifer and Meg

[ Castiel is making another one of his rare public appearances on the network, having few topics he is willing to discuss that would be appropriate for public consumption.  But the topic was one that needed to be urgently discussed -- a warning of a new threat when the Initiative was already at their weakest. ] 

Some of you may be aware of a... middle-aged man bearing a white bastard sword from his correspondence last night.  This man is not as harmless as outer appearances may lead one to believe.

He is an angel, and his real name is Lucifer.  This name may or may not be familiar to you, but he is known by many names.  Beelzebub, Satan, the Devil...  Lucifer is not to be trusted -- he is powerful, he is driven by vengeance and hate... and his merciless disregard for human life is unmatched.  He is not to be trifled with.

I don't know what the Initiative was thinking bringing him here.  But you must all of you be on your guard.

Perhaps if he were asleep during the procedure...?

[ It's likely going to piss off John, but Castiel isn't exactly comfortable with leaving him out in the open and exposed to Lucifer. Not when both boys are so dedicated to him -- John is all too tempting a target. ]

S'creepy, man. I know you have a habit with that kinda stuff but how about you just lem'me talk to him first? It's better if he knows that you're tryin' to help him instead of creepin' into his place and gettin' all weird on him, awake or not.

...Maybe you're right.

[ Cas relents, but he's definitely not happy about the way things continue to fail are with John. He still doesn't get what's so creepy about visiting people while they sleep. Angels do it all the time, Dean. ]

After all, John continues to be less than appreciative of my help. He would not be eager to see me again so soon.

[ dean looks ready to agree but then falters. ]

What do you mean continues? Did something happen?

[ Castiel waves a hand and mutters unhelpfully: ]

Your father was nearly overtaken by a pack of those beasts we encountered on our return. I dealt with them.

...And then your father drew his weapon against me.

[ nearly overtaken? as in almost killed? the image that flashes in his mind is full of blood and his father's unmoving figure. he shoves it aside though in favor blinking at the angel. ]

Wait, you saved my dad? [ cas had been there when he couldn't have, and then-- the look on his face remains astonished even, like he can't believe cas would make the effort even if it is john winchester who obviously means a lot to both dean and sam. after what john had said and how he'd reacted, no one would blame cas for leaving john to his own fate...

though really, dean knows better. this is cas, after all, so he pulls back some of that surprise even if it leaves him stumbling for something to say. no simple thank you can really cut it. ]

I don't-- I didn't know, he didn't say anything... [ guess there's another topic to discuss with daddy dearest when he approaches him about the carvings. ]

I do seem to be the one topic that puts the most strain in your relationship.

[ So there's little doubt in his mind why John didn't say anything. ]

Nevertheless, I promised that I would protect you and your family... and I will continue to uphold that promise, Dean.

However, if his weapon evolves, my blade might not be the only weapon capable of killing me. [ Which makes all that gun waving in his face, even after saving John's life, all the more distressing -- a fact that makes Castiel miss Dean's appreciation almost entirely in favor of addressing certain immediate concerns. ] There is the threat of Lucifer of course, but strangely he doesn't appear to be as eager to end my life as John is.

Great, so basically dad's a bigger threat than the devil. [ never thought he'd say that, nope. ]

He promised not to go all hunter on your ass though, and it ain't like savin' his life is gonna change that. [ but yeah, it probably did just piss off john more, if dean knows anything about his dad. ]

But just...be careful, y'know? With both of 'em.

Not exactly. Lucifer can still destroy me with a snap of his fingers if he were so inclined.

[ Like an exploding balloon of chunky soup. Let's not see if three times a charm is really a thing, okay? But in the meantime, Cas is going to take a moment to look vaguely petulant, because really, John's volatile behavior is intolerable more times than not. ]

I was careful. It would appear that whatever I do or say incites your father toward violence. He is completely unreasonable.

Cas, your definition of careful is a little lackin'. [ just like almost all of his human interactions skills. so really, he can't exactly blame john for reacting the way dean imagines he did. ]
