There's been talk recently of the need for a more organized means to control threats and protect the people here. Naturally, I agree completely.

As I found out not long ago, we're not alone in thinking that. The people - the civilians - of Exsilium have already begun to organize a police force of their own. I happened to find their station because of this flier, advertising for assistance. They're more than willing to accept Transports - in fact, they're willing to allow for a separate segment to be created that would consist entirely of Transports and address dangers to us.

I can understand if anyone may be hesitant to work with natives of this world, but they seem to be completely unaffiliated with the Initiative - so much that no one I spoke to acknowledged the name - and I believe this is a good opportunity to bring some [ JUSTICE ] order to Exsilium while we're here.

I expect they're working on setting up a system of jails as well, though I'll of course make sure they do have something acceptable before getting started.

Good. I mean, it'd be useless to go through all this effort without having some kind of punishment.

[ She sounds a little doubtful, though. Jails might not be able to so easily hold people with certain abilities. ]

Often just the presence of a justice system can be enough to deter some people. There'll be work of course, but hopefully that will help as well.

Hopefully you're right. I don't have much experience with this kinda stuff, but I won't let people just get away with doing the wrong thing. [ Does she mean calling the police in or something more drastic? It ~~varies~~ is a mystery. ]

... Yeah, I will. [ Pause. ] What if they're actually in the middle of doing something, though? It'd be wrong to just stand there and wait for somebody else to take care of the problem.

[ Especially if people might get hurt hurt. ]

I'd still prefer if you'd call me or someone else before getting involved. If it's a violent crime, you run the risk of getting hurt, and it may be wiser to spend time getting the victim to medical help. Just a description of the attacker is a lot better than nothing.

[ Firmly: ] Getting hurt isn't an issue for me.

You're right about the rest, though. My healing isn't good enough to help other people yet, so I'll make sure someone else knows.

Even if you say that, there are people who'll worry if you get hurt. It's better to be careful.

You could say that about anyone who fights, though. It isn't an excuse. [ Because reasons to not get beat up are obviously just excuses, yes. ]

It isn't, but there's also no purpose in straining yourself needlessly, especially when there are others around who can do things. That's only making things worse for when your help is needed.

Just leaving things up to others isn't fair. Maybe it's okay for some people, but heroes don't do that kinda stuff. [ Not that she's much of a hero anymore but deluding yourself is always healthy, right... ] What matters the most is doing the right thing, and being selfish isn't a part of that.

That's right, of course. You've learned these things young - it's impressive. Still, I'd be happy if you could trust me enough to leave these things to me a little. I promise I don't take such trust lightly.

I'm not gonna get in your way or anything. [ Spoilers: she gets in the way all the time. ] I don't mind reporting stuff, but giving people like that a chance to escape isn't something I can do.

It's not about getting in my way. But as a Hero, my responsibility is to protect as many people as I can, including [ children ] other heroes - not at the expense of them. As I said, I take that very seriously.
