[There is one very scowly looking blond looking at her surroundings, visible both on the network and in person outside the apartments. She mutters under her breath:] You piss off one mage...
[Clearing her throat, she tries and fails to force the scowl off her face] My name's Lena. I need to be - not here. Look, I'm grateful for the rescue, but it's a little too late. I made a deal, and I have six months - I have six months. None of which I can afford to waste here.
You people need to stop making other people fight your battles for you and learn to stand on your own two feet. It's not my job to hold your hand into a better future.

Rescue? [ that's a unique word for 'kidnapping'. ]

I was in the middle of something I would rather not have been in the middle of. Who are you?
video
Scott.
Why do you want to get back there if you didn't want to be there in the first place?
video
[Her eyes narrow. Sorry dude, if there's one thing she can't stand it's people poking at her past] Why is that any of your business?

Just asking, didn't know it was off limits. Who are you, and why six months? [ actually, there is something he has to say about that that could even be helpful, but hey, no rush. ]

Maybe if you told me a little more, I could try to help. I can already tell you that there's no way back home, at least not that anyone here is willing to share. [ he's still working on that one himself, because there's got to be a way. problem is, it would probably involve some serious future-government infiltration to get to it. ]

What do you mean by six months? Like, "I have six months left to live" or you've got some kind of deadline?
[ he is actually trying to be helpful now, he's just doing it in an absurdly roundabout way. ]

Curse? No, why - [ oh wait, she means like, mage curses. she said something about a mage, right? either way, he breaks. being a jerk isn't really natural to him (without a little help from the full moon, anyway), and it's a lot of effort to keep up. he's still terse, but he drops the evasive act. ]
My friends and I think that wherever you left - when you left, that's where you'll go back to. [ meaning deadlines don't matter much. also, necessary disclaimer: this is the assumption of a bunch of kids with very little evidence to go off of. ]
no subject
How do you know that, exactly?
no subject
We all came from different times, but remember things happening - like, my friend left after me, but said I'd never left. So things must just wait for us, right?
[ a pause, brow furrowing in slight distress. ] ... that or there's more than one of us. [ oh my goddd time travel is hard ]

So, uh - is magic a big thing where you're from? [ doing his best to cover up his curiosity with casual small talk, probably failing miserably. ]
no subject
[And now she just looks confused] Is it...not? Where you're from?
no subject
What, magic? No, no way. [ that's this instinctive response, anyway, but he quickly reconsiders, looking a bit confused himself. ] Or... maybe. It's not very common, though.
no subject
But - magic is what creates us. It's the whole driving force of - everything. [She doesn't sound like a crazy fanatic or anything. Just someone for whom this has always been a fact of life]
no subject
Not so much. Not in California, anyway. [ maybe when he's high, but that's probably not what she's going for. ] But you're obviously not from California. Where are you from? [ he realizes he's being nosy again right after he says it, continuing quickly ] I mean, only if you want to say, you don't have to.

She shakes her head slowly] Or maybe it's there, and your kingdom developed - oddly. That happens, sometimes, if people don't discover how to use it soon enough. [Something flickers across her face like a sudden realisation that she might have said too much. Every day blacksmiths aren't supposed to know that much about the formation of kingdoms.
A beat passes, before she sighs. This much at least, she's willing to share. Mostly because it's not true] A small farming village on the edge of the Saith forest. Angevine. I'm apprenticed to a blacksmith there.

but the fact that she's suddenly gone all medieval times - that gets a reaction. it distracts him from responding to her theory on california's lack of magic, which he finds weirdly plausible considering everything he's seen the past few months. ]
Blacksmith? Seriously? Do you know how to make like.. swords and armor? [ spoiler alert, totally going to geek out about meeting a blacksmith with stiles later. ]
no subject
I know the theory. [There's a faint cough. She tried forging a sword a few weeks ago and failed miserably] There's not much call for either of those things in a farming village, and I came late to the apprenticeship. [She rolls her eyes] I can make a fantastic nail, though. [She is very tired of making nails :'D]

Well, I guess it's a good thing, right? Not needing swords and armor. Would probably suck a lot harder if those were in high demand.
