[After about an hour spent fiddling with it, Lance has finally made his netbook do something productive.]

So, from what I understand, we're here to fight some war that we have nothing to do with. How has that worked out so far, hmm? It seems a bit counter productive to me when you steal people away from their homes.

Anyway, I happen to have a... gift for ripping holes in the fabric of worlds. Quite convenient when one wants to get from one place to another quickly. Worlds included.
If any of you people are feeling particularly brave or adventurous, I could be persuaded to open one of those holes for you. Now, I don't guarantee success or, that you will come out in one piece.

I've seen that sort of thing before. I can't do it myself, not without a big-ass machine and just the right conditions, but I've seen others that could open portals on their own and yank people out of a world with a thought.

To find someone who can do it here, [And one that still speaks to us lowly flatlanders.] is pretty amazing.

Being able to pop open a dimensional membrane like a bag of skittles isn't exactly mundane either... but what's this you said about possibly heading back home?

Have you gotten any volunteers so far?

[It's a tempting prospect. Hell, it wouldn't be the first time he's jumped into a mysterious portal with no guarantee of safety on the other side. His biggest concern is that he winds up stranded in some altogether NEW dimension with no way out.]

Is there a reasonable way back here in case something goes wrong?

Like I said, Not without a big-ass machine and a lot of bad luck.

[And he isn't sure he trusts a stranger to pull his ass back to reality in the literal sense. Not that he has anything against the guy, but he just met him. What if he's unable--or unwilling--to keep the portal open? Or he takes off and leaves him there? Koltira can probably tell the motives behind his reservations; Gordon was never good at hiding what he was thinking.]
