Yeah. [She scratches her chin.] They do a buncha crap to get us ready to fight, and it screws everything up. One of 'em drugged the food and water once, [she frowns deeply at this] but some crazy guy took care of him.

["Took care of" in the sense that he shot the guy on live feed, but details.]

Seriously? [ She sighs, looking equal parts dejected and worried. Half of her wants to ask for more details, but she's almost afraid of what the answer might be. ] I guess what happened before wasn't a one-off thing, then...

[ But it was bad enough that she sure wishes it was. Damn VR. ]

Well it's over now, right? [Kyouko notices that Sayaka seems pretty bummed out, so she is trying, in her way, to help.] It's nothin' to worry about.

Worryin' about stuff that hasn't happened yet is stupid. [A beat.] You've gotta live in the present, y'know. Since we're all stuck here, might as well make the best of it.

How can you just say that so easily? We're supposed to be helping, but we haven't even had a chance to do anything useful yet.

[ At least if there were things to fight against she could just throw herself into that all over again ~~because it obviously worked so well last time~~. Right now there is no way to make the best of anything. ]

The good doctor there drunkenly bragged about a VR program he had created to help us train our weapons. We're apparently not up to his standards. The program went off a couple of days early and there were... Complications.

Complications in a VR program... What, were they having trouble disconnecting?

The program turned our memories into combat situations.

...That's exactly not what I figured at all. Christ... No wonder everyone's up in arms about it! There's your memories, the one thing we have LEFT of our homes, decoded and profaned for everyone to see.

[A humorless laugh.] They don't really care about any of that, and it's becoming increasingly obvious.

They should. They don't realize the fine line they're walking. They keep bringing these transports in, but don't bother to stick with them! When's the last time you've seen an Initiative officer around? These people need focus; they need someone to rally behind. I've only been here a few days and I've seen some pretty mercenary behavior! Add to that the frustration of being forcibly removed from their homes, and you've got a dangerous combination, Commander.

All it would take, is one man with the wrong words...

[It's nothing she's never heard before, but she's in total agreement.] I can't argue with any of that, Doc, and this latest stunt has only further proven that the Initiative can't really be trusted with our well-being. [Sigh.]

We're just going to have to look out for our own, is all. We're all in this mess together. And I hope those guys up in the Hold get their heads on straight soon... or that we can find a man that has the RIGHT words that can do their job for them.

That was pretty funny, though.

It's pretty bad when the person who made the network is having issues getting back into it. At least they know how. But this doesn't make me feel a whole lot better about how bad the situation looks.

Oh come on, Tails, it isn't THAT bad. I'm sure they still know what they're doing.

[But the fact that they forcibly yanked the dude away from the console while he was trying to explain things caused the fur to raise on the back of his neck...]

[His tails swish as he continues.] I guess I'm being a little pessimistic. I didn't think it'd be this difficult to reach a message out to us... things must be worse than we thought. They may need more help in that department.

Maybe... but something's starting to bug me about this.

The dude built that VR program, and it was launched days before he had planned. He built the network, and he's been locked out of it. And when he tries to get word out to us, they don't even let him finish...

Really? He must be rushed, then. Having to use his time wisely. But where is he broadcasting all this from? Does he need help? Even from how short of a time I've been here, this is the first time I've heard anything from the Initiative, other than the lady that helped me get settled in.

A lot of things don't seem to make sense here, Sonic. And the situation's looking worse than I thought... what should we do?

[His ears twitch thoughtfully.]

I'm not quite sure yet, kiddo... Any chance you can find OUT where he was broadcasting that from? If that VR thing gets worse instead of better--which I get the feeling it just might--we may need his help.

Hm... he's banned. I can't find out where it was broadcasting from, either. It's being fairly evasive about it. [Then again, Tails is NOT really a good hacker. He doesn't like doing it.]
