[ It has been a while or maybe not, but when the feed clicks on - and it's never an accident with this man - what comes up is a close-up of a cup with a milky liquid and a couple of rolls. The rolls look fresh, the liquid looks sort of like skim milk. Some where in the background, Takegami sighs and there's his hand in view, picking up the cup out of camera range. ]

Sake wa hyakuyaku no cho...

[ The cup reappears and is refilled. Takegami toys with the cup and then starts speaking in English. ]

They say that sake was first made when a warrior tried to save his bride from a dragon. In order to lure him away, the warrior took rice and fresh spring water and boiled it together until sake was made. The dragon grew intrigued by the smell and came to sip the brew. While the dragon drank his fill, the warrior and bride were reunited. The dragon was so sated by the sake that he did not give them chase and the couple was able to live peacefully for all their lives.

[ Again the cup disappears as there is a pause in the narrative. The cup is set down with a sharp click and is refilled, and again a pause in-between cupfuls. Takegami's fingers are covered with half-healed scratches, his nails cut short, and the rings on each finger twisted into fine knots. ]

It is the drink of new beginnings and of fond farewells. We drink it under the cherry trees in spring, we bring the finest brew for the newly weds to drink on their first night, and we drink it for births and to celebrate those that had passed before us. There are holidays where we would crack open the barrels it seeps in, there are holidays where we toast the new-born sun. Some medicines are made more potent by soaking in it, and it always with good cheer we raise a cup to each other over our evening meals.

[ The cup is raised out of sight once more and he sighs softly. ]

A pity it is so hard to find here.

People usually annoy me or intrigue me, or both. But usually in some negative manner. I do not often get along with people.

[Even his moirail makes fun of him. Not a lot of people have nice things to say about him at all.]

Is that something you do not like? Or does it make you unsure on how to react around me?

No, I like it- I just. Yes, it makes me unsure about how to react around you. I'm not exactly experienced with it.

I would advice to take one step at a time with it. You can't rush it and you can't always guess right as to how things will turn out.

I suppose so, I- um. [Cocks his head a little, his face still hot from the alcohol.]

Isn't it odd though?

Odd? No. Forming a new friendship among humans is something like this. I suppose that is different for a troll since it doesn't depend on a quadrant.

Friendship is something normal for trolls. Or isn't supposed to be, it doesn't mean the same thing in our language as you humans tend to define it with yours. Also my kind tends to think of it like a disease.

It can be a disease in some ways. In other ways, it helps an emotional need that sometimes cannot be found in another way.

I always got along well alone. Aside from two other beings, I was always alone physically speaking. And the majority of those I spoke to digitally I was never on the most positive terms with for various reasons.

Most humans seem to need other humans to make them understand what it is meant to be a human. If you cut a human off from the rest, they tend to get strange. I too have little need for others but I do enjoy socializing even if I may not like the person I am talking to.

[Get strange you say? Trolls don't get strange when they are alone, oh not at all! Infact, they start off being really strange. Equius is a great example, of course, he'd never say such a thing.]

Most of humanity is silly. Those few that are not are often viewed as being strange, or have mind fixated on such matters as the universe.

[ He is taking his own advice and drinking some water. ]

No, no. I find you interesting and alien enough to want to talk to you more. Most humans I find rather dull.

Why do you finds humans dull? Besides all the obvious reasons, and how strange they look.

Because a lot of them have the same sort of problems and needs and desires. They ask for adventures, but what they really want is something comforting.

Comforting? [He's used to those talking about 'adventures'. But usually that means flarping, and dangerous happenings. Like getting paralyzed or blown up, both not being very comforting at all.]

Well... [ He knew troll sex is a bit different than human sex but it is his more personal experience with it he is talking about. ] They ask for something different, something to help them dream or to express their darkest desires. But once they are given a chance to do it, to become the hero of their dreams, they suddenly just want to go home and be surrounded by their family and friends.

Hero of their dreams? [Trolls aren't really used to positive dreams, this is a hard concept for him to understand, especially in his drunken state.] I suppose it is not necessarily something I would be able to comprehend, not being a human and all that. But I suppose it-

is... nice to feel comforted.

Most humans dream of being someone other than themselves. Someone prettier and better then what they are.

It is. Humans do seem to need comfort more than anything.

That is the most foolish thing I have ever heard. People are born as they are on purpose, for a reason. It is their part to play.

Well I will keep this information in mind then.
