001 ⚫ video
[The transmission begins with a very close up eye. It’s pulled back very quickly and there’s an odd-looking man positively beaming at the screen.]
Oh hello! I’ve just realized this is transmitting. I’m Atley. Atley Yorke.
[He waves at the camera like an overly excited child.]
I’ve just been brought...here. Wherever that happens to be. I’m told it’s someplace called Exsillium, which is an awfully exciting name. I hope there’s more of...well more people, really. I hope there’s more people out there.
It’d be awkward if I was just talking to myself, wouldn’t it?
[He’s moving constantly, never sitting still. He waves his hands as he talks, bobs his head and makes faces. It’s dizzing as the device is held in one of his hands as he gesticulates.]
So. Um. If you are out there and if you know what’s going on...contact me?
[Transmission ends with a smile.]
Re: Video
[She grins, glad he got the joke]
Re: Video
Well, that's not very nice of them. You seem lovely.
[He gives her another smile.]
How long have you been here, then?
Re: Video
[She shrugs, still smiling]
Just got here myself. Nearly leveled the building I arrived in out of shock.
Re: Video
And I did say seem. You could be a good faker.
[But he's joking, and his tone suggests that. He'd never, ever be mean.]
How did you...almost level a building?
[He looks a bit wary now.]
Video
[She grins back, amused at his antics]
Ah [Suddenly her expression becomes a little sadder, though she maintains her smile. She's used to people being scared of her.]
Word of advice, it isn't wise to startle a mage unless you know what you are doing. [Her eyes glow red for a moment, before shifting back to normal, which isn't actually a spell, just her infravision, but it has the same effect]
Re: Video
[He laughs again before watching her very closely.]
A mage....
[He thinks for a moment before catching her eyes shifting.]
Your eyes have just gone red! Are you magic then? Mage...magic. Is that right?
Video
[Her eyes return to normal, and she manages to look bemused.]
That is generally what a mage does.
[Her voice goes dramatic and booming, or as close as she can manage]
We are workers of the weave, manipulators of the mystic arts, crafters of the arcane.
[Suddenly it drops back to normal]
In short, we cast magic spells.
Re: Video
[He blinks and looks shocked, surprised and most of all - completely fascinated.]
Oh.
Oh, I'd love to learn more about you.

[He disappears from the video for a moment before popping back into view holding a medium sized cloth bag.]
My "weapon" [He does finger quotes] is this. Big bag that gives me never-ending gummy bears.
If you want, I'll share. If you're hungry that is. They're my favorite.
[He smiles.]
And then maybe I can...ask you things? Is that okay?

[She's picturing some sort of cross between a gelatinous cube and a bear, rather nightmare fuel material, before he holds up the bag and sets her fears somewhat to rest. No telling what might come out of it, but it can't be too dangerous if he shows it off so readily]
Ah, no, I can safely say I've never heard of anything by that name. [Smiles at his description] I own a few items like that back home, though they create weapons rather than bears. Is it magic? Are these bears edible?
[Curiosity wins out over caution] Food certainly has a way of loosening my lips. I think I might be able to answer a few questions.
SORRY ABOUT THE WAIT! D8
Yep! Delicious things.
[He pops his hand into the bag and comes back out with a handful of the little multicolored gummy bears. He shoves a few of them in his mouth and chews.]
They're candy. Made of sugar...and other things but mostly sugar! I'm...not entirely sure what makes the bag work like this. It's only had the never ending capability since I got here. Before that it was just a plain ol' bag.
Definitely edible. [He shoves the rest of his handful of bears in his mouth and chomps down on them.]
If you want, you can...or I can...meet you somewhere and I'll share because I've got loads of these! Never ending. Just like my questions.
[He beams.]
Not an issue at all, I backtag all the time.
Ah, I see. We have sugary treats on Toril too, though none are so artfully crafted. Were my friend Imoen here, she would be bouncing off the walls to discover new ways of introducing sugar to her bloodstream. [She cocks her head to one side]
It only started once you arrived? I wonder if it is magic, or some new type of machinery.
[She nods]
Very well. If you wish, we could meet at the place they have given me to stay.

Yep! Only since I got here. I thought it was some sort of trick at first. But it isn't. I've taken the bears out, except for one and watched the whole thing refill one at a time. It's quite fascinating. I'd love to know how it works.
[He pops a few more in his mouth and chews.]
That sounds lovely. Shall you...beam me the directions? [He laughs.]
