[The transmission begins with a very close up eye. It’s pulled back very quickly and there’s an odd-looking man positively beaming at the screen.]

Oh hello! I’ve just realized this is transmitting. I’m Atley. Atley Yorke.

[He waves at the camera like an overly excited child.]

I’ve just been brought...here. Wherever that happens to be. I’m told it’s someplace called Exsillium, which is an awfully exciting name. I hope there’s more of...well more people, really. I hope there’s more people out there.

It’d be awkward if I was just talking to myself, wouldn’t it?

[He’s moving constantly, never sitting still. He waves his hands as he talks, bobs his head and makes faces. It’s dizzing as the device is held in one of his hands as he gesticulates.]

So. Um. If you are out there and if you know what’s going on...contact me?

[Transmission ends with a smile.]

Well, short version?

We've all been pulled here across time, and even a few universes, and we're expected to solve all their problems by going back in time and fighting for them. Our overlords.

So, uh, have fun?

[He blinks and then after a moment makes a confused sort of face.]

Sounds lovely.

How long have you been here, then?

[He studies the screen.]

What's your name?

[Have a very real seeming woman, though the pointed ears and features suggest she ain't human]

Well Master Yorke, unless you have some rather interesting delusions, I'd have to say I'm very likely another person.

Maybe.

[He stares at her for a moment and then smiles as widely as he can.]

Oh a person! I love people.

[He studies her face carefully.]

Are you alien?

Wellllll, I assume everyone is alien to here...but are you...not human?

[He looks fascinated by the very idea.]

Well, that seems a great deal more pleasant and attitude than the alternative then.

[She blinks. Well that's a new one. Of course, she comes from a world with thousands of native sentient races]

I, er, suppose? Well actually, you only get one and a half marks for correctness depending on how you define aliens. I'm certainly not from this world, but I am technically half human.

I suppose it would be.

[He laughs.]

Half-human. How wonderful!

What's the other half? If I'm allowed to ask?

[He is completely hooked now.]

[~~God~~] Elf. Mom was a full elf. Guess which of her features I got.

[She's joking to cover the fact she just actually saw her mom for the first time, and it didn't go well.]

D --> Okay, perhaps that name isn't all awful, E%silium
D --> But this place is more nettlesome than is is e%citing I can tell you that much
D --> That aside, I can answer what questions you have...
D --> Since your attitude seems to be one of the more positive ones of the new recruits

[His eyes go wide.]

An elf!?

I've never met one of those before.

[He beams and then realizes she asked a question - even if she was joking.]

Her ears, amirite?

There's a million things exciting about the name Exsillium! The x for one. For another - it has the word "silly" in it. How sad can you be around that word?! It's a great word!

[He laughs though and reads the text quietly.]

But alright. I'll bite. I do have a few questions.

[A beat and a intake of breath.]

What are the weapons for? Will I be expected to fight? Because that's not going to work well, I can tell you that right now. What else is there to this place? Are there things besides humans? Can I leave or am I stuck here? Where is everyone?

[He says all of this in one breath as quickly as possible and ends with a short smile.]

There are quite a few back where I'm from, though most of them prefer to keep to their hidden cities.

[He narrows his eyes before bursting into laughter.]

[Winces]

[He taps his nose and then points to the screen, all while beaming.]

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to fight with a bag of replenishing gummy bears. I don't see that fight ending well.

[He frowns.]

A troll? That sounds rather interesting. I've never met a troll before.

[He hums for a moment, pursing his lips.]

Lovely. Just lovely. I hope I'm not missing class for this.

[He frowns.]

I don't understand...what's Cloverfield?

Them. I'm a half-elf. Very different if you ask, well, most is not fair, but a good number of important elves. Most are good folk, but some of their leaders can be, selective about who they consider a proper elf.

[She grins, glad he got the joke]

This place is nothing to be excited about.

[He makes a face at that.]

Well, that's not very nice of them. You seem lovely.

[He gives her another smile.]

Well, as a new person to....here....it's better to be excited about it than positively bored, wouldn't you agree?

Things would get old rather quickly if I thought like that.

I try not to.

[smiles]

Well now, you haven't gotten to know me. I have a way of getting under certain types skin. There are, however, many kind and good half-elves, humans, and even elves who deserve better treatment than they get.

[She shrugs, still smiling]

Just got here myself. Nearly leveled the building I arrived in out of shock.
