[ Hello, denizens of Exsilium. Someone finally figured out how to turn their device on. Not well, mind you- but hey! Turning it on is an improvement over staring at it and losing it, right? At first, there's only blackness and a tiny sliver of changing coloured light in the top left corner. In the background, the low buzzing noise of busy chatter can be heard; voices indistinct. ] Is this thing on?

[ It takes him a few more moments to realize his thumb is covering the camera, but when he does, his smile fills the screen, an almost, but not quite smug expression upon his features. ] I spent a few days wandering around aimlessly- [ Read: Lost. ] -and I was beginning to think that maybe all the whining was justified.

[ He looks away a moment, over at something unseen. ]

But then I found this place. And you know what? It's not all bad.

[ This is followed by several very feminine giggles in the background, and Garrett chuckles lowly. He murmurs something indistinct to whomever is with him off camera, before he cuts the feed. ]

[Shepard looks fairly unimpressed, despite the smirk on her face as she leans in towards the camera.] You got lost and somehow ended up in bed with a few of the fair citizens? Doesn't seem like you got the bad end of the stick.

I ended up precisely where I meant to. [ Even if unintentionally so. ]

"Wandering aimlessly." [Look, she even does the airquotes for you, man.]

You always fall into bed with strangers?

[ He snorts. ] Who said I was even in a bed? I happen to simply be surrounded by a plethora of new friends, that's all.

[ As for the 'does this happen a lot' question, he just smiiiiles. ]

Floor, table, wall, the shower... You know what I mean, buddy. [Okay, the look on her face is more amused now.] A plethora. How long have you been lost, exactly?

Four, maybe five days.

The arrival was a little disorienting, if you know what I mean.

Not exactly. I found my way around. [Also she was with Tali, so.]

[ Well, well, well, WELL. Someone is definitely amused that this guy managed to find that place. Takegami will laugh slightly and then address him. ]

[Bethany had only been half paying attention to her netbook when this particular video post started playing, but as soon as she hears that voice, she freezes up and stares at the screen. Her eyes widen in surprise, blinking slowly, as she comes to the realization that Garrett is here. The very last person she wants to see in this place.

Bethany? [ Well, colour him surprised!

Hardly the warmest greeting you've ever given me, sister. [ He'd say that this was Carver's fault, only... Carver isn't with them any more and he knows that that's still a bit of a sore spot. ]

[She clears her throat, but when she continues, her tone is no different. Still flat and cold.] Hello, Brother. I see you're doing quite well for yourself.

[ He almost winces. ]

Ouch. [ Who pissed in your cheerios this morning, Bethany? He doesn't remember you being this... er... well, like this while you were in the Circle. ]

You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say you're upset with me.

I'm Nathaniel Howe, we met a couple of years ago when you and Anders helped me out in the Deep Roads.

[He thinks it's been a couple of years; being in Exsilium for so long has confused things timewise.]

[She too, had spent a few days getting accustomed to this strange place, and more importantly, this odd communication device, and while her expression is carefully neutral, her tone of voice is somewhat frosty.]

How charming. [And she adds:] I don't think I would refer to justified concerns as whining.

[ My my, it did get cold in here all of a sudden, didn't it? ] I didn't say they were all whining. Some of you certainly sound as though you have a bit of sense.

And then other's just whine. There is a difference, you know. [ He smiles leisurely despite her frosty attitude. ]

It's a pity we can't all find brothels to fall into. [NO SMILES HERE. So srs.] What would you call whining in this instance?

I can see someone's going to need a pot of redblossom salve before the week is out.
