This is most certainly a change. To be quite honest, I am not very fond of these leaps and bounds into the future. I become rather fond of 1962 as history rages on.
Nevertheless.
I've been somewhat limited in my time since arriving here. You see, my mutation does not function in the same way. It's very distressing.
It is with that in mind that I ask you all whether or not the same thing is occurring for you. Have you noticed any dampening of your natural abilities? Perhaps abilities that were not necessarily of the norm?
All input is most appreciated.
Thank you.

I only know of my own friend, who shares my memories of that same place.
( text )
What was that New York like? You're a mind reader, right? Did you get to keep that?
( text )
It was -- in the future from my own time, though much darker.
( text )
But if they can bring us across time and dimensions--is your, um, mind reading so powerful that you think it's surprising they can block it? Looking at it like the sci fi genre, blocking telepathy isn't a new trope at all.
Though, then again, thinking about it that way, if they have a way to shield themselves I guess the worry would be they might have a way to block your own ability entirely or stop it...
[Maybe not so tactful, Mikado?]
Um! But since they haven't used it, maybe they wouldn't.
( text )
I worry they are capable of much more, and that perhaps we just do not yet realise it.
( poor charles the rest of that is moonspeak to him )
( text )
That wouldn't be surprising though, given the situation, right? I mean... Revealing what they're capable of wouldn't be smart, even if they trusted us completely...
( text )
That was my thinking as well. It is -- worth being vigilant, at the very least.
( text )
I agree. This situation is either a sci fi story or a futuristic horror genre, either way it'd be best to assume it's not "safe" even discounting war.
( text )
Entirely correct--though I am less likely to harken it to fiction, ah, in my concern.
( text )
Story tropes can give a good basis for description though.
[Or Mikado just really likes cliches.]
But how would you say it?
( text )
( and then charles spends hours on reddit and making lolcats and trying to share them with everyone )
( text )
[Mikado would laugh at your memes Charles!]
( text )
Entirely. Though it remains unsettling.
