[This query brought to you by a pretty handful of missing puzzle pieces, not that you'd know, since Lenalee has no intent to justify or explain that imagery, nor to keep picking at scabs until they fester.]

We've already seen how the smallest change made can rewrite the entire history of this world. People are unborn, warheads are undropped... because we've cut out the circumstances which led to their happening.

How do you think that it might be the same for us? Transports come and go so often here and no one knows why. Whatever we do, we are always altering chances, there is no reason not to consider they could also be our own. That someone arrived on a day no longer existing may suddenly leave, or return by new circumstance, or forget they were ever here before.

It may be that we don't "go home", just. "Never arrive".

[Which, having seen a friend do that to her friends, she knows that this girl likely needs the reassurance. Even if Kate is fairly certain she's lying, it's good to hear a nice lie from time to time.]

Thank you, [ Lenalee does her best to push her sincerity across, so that it doesn't get steamrolled by the strain she feels ] but I don't think anyone has hurt their friends, miss. We're all set to return home eventually.

[It's using a machine they cannot so much as turn off which leaves a bad taste in her mouth. Surely they aren't in control of everyone's lives save their own.]

None of us were born here, which means we can't erase ourselves. But.. oughtn't what we do here hold some sway over us, while we are here?

It should. There are a lot of people arguing for that, anyway. [She's one of them.] The question is how much control we have over that. And with everyone divided on the methods ... [She knows she's sounding pessimistic.] It's better to just hope that no one's stepping on each other's toes.
