[ solomon is in what looks to be a library, dimly-lit and obviously in need of a lot of work-- but he doesn't seem to mind. indeed, he's seated at a dusty table surrounded by books that, while in relative good condition, have still seen better days. he's apparently read most of them, because markers are visible sticking out of the pages, and the king himself is curled in his chair with another open on his lap.
he glances up, a little owl-eyed, offering a faintly distracted smile as he holds the book up. it's hard to see the title in the light, especially as he sets it back down on his lap. ]
I've been catching up with everything that's happened since I lived, and-- [ his smile brightens. ] My goodness, science developed by leaps and bounds, didn't it? I have to admit, I'm particularly interested right now in evolution and-- genetics and-- [ he glances back down at his book. ] --DNA. [ he glances back up again, fingers curling over the cover of the book. ] I think these books are mostly considered classics, though. They seem to have landmark papers and discoveries in them, but not a great deal that's newer. Does anyone know if I can find more information elsewhere..?
[ he reaches out, tapping the tablet. ] On this, perhaps? [ because while he knows god, he also knows that there is a process and a science behind what god does, what magic does, what everything is. he likes finally having a few answers, and the means to perhaps find more.
he starts to say something else-- then abruptly sneezes, sending dust into the air and looking a little sheepish. ] Oh dear. I think even my extraordinarily extensive library back home was cleaner than this one, and I had books stacked on the floor. [ he closes his book, coughing and waving more dust away as he rises. ] I know the focus has been on other areas, given the nature of this place, but Kevin, if you're listening, I don't suppose you know where I might find a broom..? I think you and Mr Nightray hoard the cleaning supplies..

[ he hums a laugh. ] Well enough, I suppose. It's strange having so much freedom here.
no subject
[He waves a hand, as if dismissing it.]
I'd imagine having no Kingdom to reside over leaves you with a lot of time to spare.
Not here and crying softly
would you like to join us for tea kevin
chaperoning for life!

No kingdom, no courtiers and servants at my elbow and dogging my heels. Not even my demons expecting my time and attention. Though to be honest, I've never minded them.

[All the more reason he's ignoring Uriel's request for him to stay away from Solmon. The number of humans he knows who could catch a Demon's interest like that were so few in number he could count them on one hand, so no harm in adding another to the list.]
Tell me, are you particularly fond of any of your non-human companions? Excluding Uriel, that is. He's already told me quite a bit.
[Indirectly. He's piecing things together pretty quickly himself by what he knows.]

[ he closes his book, curling it to his chest absently. ] I love all of them very, very much. I-- admit that Dantalion is.. special, though. He was the first I summoned, and he's been with me the longest. [ his fingers tighten. ] .. And Camio reminds me of his father.

But the last I had seen of him, the Dantalion of my own world felt rather poorly towards humans. He believes their lack of knowledge compared to his own on the world and it's secrets is worthy of nothing but scorn...made a living out of exchanging knowledge for the life force of those who desired it.
His summoners had an awful habit of taking too much at once, hmhm.

It's an interesting contrast. He's hot-tempered in my world. Annoyed with my apparent lack of ambition. Jealous. Willing to share me, but only just.
no subject
It really is funny.]
Perhaps one day I can meet this Dantalion of yours. I'd imagine he'd find my company much more preferable than your other resident prone-to-jealousy companion.

[ a pause. ] Uriel's not so bad. Just.. protective for some reason.
no subject
[He shakes his head. "For some reason" is a reason he's pretty sure he's figured out, but he won't break it to the poor King.]
No, no, Uriel is - hm. I can't say I dislike him, is what I mean to say. He's of stark contrast to any Angel I've ever met, and for the better.
He's very much an individual, even if some aspects of that are...unfavorable.
I hope when all is said and done, we can call each other allies.
[If not he's gonna make him one with his element and turn him into a patch of scorched earth.]
no subject
[ he brightens again at that, smile warming. ] I hope so, too. I think living like a human has been good for him.
no subject
[It's so weird to him. He's always occupied with one thing or another so he can't imagine some other him having time to waste.]
Though I don't think he's the only Angel who could, honestly.
