[There's a small girl on the screen who looks barely older than twelve. Her voice is soft, with all emotion drained from it. The language used, though, definitely points to someone older.]

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dlanor A. Knox, Chief Inquisitor of Hersey of the Great Courts of Heaven. It's a pleasure to meet all of you, despite our circumstances. I look forward to working with everyone in the future.

I have been informed that there is an organized police force run by Transports. I apologize for the broad message, but I'm unsure who I should contact if I wish to join. I'm new here.

Thank you for your help.

[Brief pause.]

I understand that a sizable chunk of the Transport population has migrated down to Earth. If I may ask, how are things progressing down there?

It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Angel. Coincidentally, I have been called that by some beings.

As another one of your titles?

I suppose you could call it my 'race.'

You know, for the moment? She's just going to roll with it.]

So that's why your title sounds as religious as it does.

[There's no wings on this one. Though her sword shines as brightly as something an angel might wield.]

Our duty is to protect the truth of our God. Anything that threatens to obscure it must be eliminated. That is the task of an Inquisitor.

Would you mind if I asked you more about what you do?

[To understand what she has been named after, and to figure out what would obscure their truth.]

Certainly.

As an officer of the Great Courts, I am tasked with handling the bureaucratic matters of my office as well as the elimination of any evil forces. More often than not, my duty leads me to many fragments to hunt witches and demons, those who seek to manipulate truth. I've recently been released from a witch's game, in fact.

[Witches exist too? Actual ones, not mistermed Sirens? Incredible. She's already filing this away.]

And how do these forces manipulate truth? I guess just lying isn't probably serious enough to draw you in...

Multiple truths may exist within a story, depending on many perceptions. Declaring harmful magic as a fragment's reality is what we seek to prevent. The world must abide by our God's rules.

But if multiple truths exist, why can't magic be among them? Facts can be as harmful as magic, if stories are to be believed.

Truth that cannot conform to the Commandments must not be allowed into existence. Magic frequently falls under this category. That is how the Great Courts operate.

Commandments? What are those?

Knox's Commandments, of course. They are the guidelines by which we operate under.

[Knoxx?]

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with them...

They are the rules governing what may or may not occur within a mystery. [And she immediately starts reciting:] 'Knox's 1st: It is forbidden for the culprit to be anyone not mentioned in the early part of the story. Knox's 2nd: It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective technique.' And so on and so forth. The Decalogue is where we draw our authority from.

Wait. So you govern based on rules set down for stories?

[CONGRATS YOU CONFUSED ANGEL IT'S A FEAT]

But of course. We operate on a metaphysical plane.

That makes more sense than you simply bringing down decisions based on a story's rules.

[Pause.]

... that is precisely what we do.
