[And now for something completely different.

For a small amount of people, such as Elaine, the mutiny itself didn't have much in the way of meaning, honestly. The hugest inconvenience was the darkness and inoperability of the doors, now that the network was back up. To her, this didn't seem like much more than a way to waste time -- even having a vague understanding of exactly why this is happening, she doesn't quite get it. Things will be fixed faster if everyone works together, she thinks. Get over yourselves, she thinks.

Which is why she technically sides with the Initiative, but there's not much she can do if she can barely see at the moment. So anyone pro-initiative might have gotten medical supplies or crappy space food, whatever, delivered. Even if you're a mutineer this might have happened. Lack of support for the cause doesn't necessarily mean she'll bother making a distinction, after all. It's not like she'll get permanently hurt.

Is what she thought, anyway. Wherever she is at the moment, her voice is flat as usual for anyone who knows her, but her breathing is slightly rough.]

-- Ah, there it goes...

I apologise for interrupting, as we certainly do appear to be in the midst of a rather serious situation, but this is somewhat urgent. If there is anyone in possession of both ice and any amount of leeches, then I would be quite appreciative!

I am uncertain what I may be able to give you in exchange, but I would be willing to work towards any compromise that you would prefer.

I’m not Christopher: I’m Liam!

But you know that you’re already a failure at being a friend, just by being what you are. So why worry about it? You need to learn to surpass the limits of human friendship by embracing the failure that comes natural to you.

Besides, you need your finger back. If you let yourself stay injured, then you’ll be useless as well as a failure, like a stalk of corn that just refuses to grow tall and produce a harvest.

And as you don’t understand emotions very well, you shouldn’t try to tell other people what to do in order for them to avoid feeling painful emotions. You don’t have enough practice with feelings to know what hurts more than something else. Don’t worry! Even though your emotions are poorly done, you have trust. Trust is half of what friendship means! Or is it comfort? Either way, because you can’t work out the emotions part, it’s your obligation as a friend to follow the one part you can do: trust. Trust your friends to know what is best for themselves.

Well, if that’s the kind of lie you want to build around yourself, I wouldn’t dream of trying to tear it down. Call this the absolute faith that I have in a friend.
